Mr. Sombrero Mexican Restaurant #2- WEST LEAGUE CITY

A place I have been so many times but unfortunately tonight is the last time. Brought my friends and family here for my daughter’s 16th birthday dinner per her request. They acted irritated to have to put together tables for 23 people although they refuse reservations but I spoke with the owner, Alberto, and he agreed to it and was to leave a note for the hostess but tables not available when we arrived. Once seated and finally got all tables needed, things seemed to go good until someone didn’t like their food and the waiter said we had to pay for it no matter what. Two bites and the person said it was awful. Then, the ice cream cake for the 16th bday girl, was told to the hostess to put in the freezer ( Owner assured me there was a freezer for it) put the cake in a wine fridge so when we were ready for it, it was melted! You should’ve seen cutting into this cake to serve to people. Talk about a major disappointment! Your child only has their 16th birthday once with friends and family and Mr. Sombrero’s ruined it. I was told it was a mistake and they would pay for the cake. I don’t want money for the cake, I wanted the frozen cake I brought and for my daughter not to cry at her 16th birthday party. I will never go to this restaurant again and I hope others keep this in mind. It’s really sad that they could meet basic needs.

Poor customer service and have lived by and gone there many times over last 15 years. The female manager is horrible and lazy. It used to be awesome! From November 5 at 9:30 pm

I live across the street so I thought I would give them another chance. Big mistake. Should have gone to Taco Bell.
First, when I walked in the door the guy at the register and another worker were laughing and whether laughing at me or something that was funny, it was rude since they didn’t stop and started talking Spanish. All the while looking at me. Look I know I waddle but I also have cancer in both my hips! It made me feel uncomfortable. So there was that. Then I get home and my food is cold. Not lukewarm but cold! Very disappointed in a meal that I was so looking forward to since I find few meals that I find I can eat now a days! Also, 18.00 for lunch! Needless to say I will not spend my money there again!!

Catching up on reviews, no pics for this place.
Two separate visits.
Service was good, timeliness was good, presentation was good.
Unfortunately the flavor of the dishes doesn’t hit for us. Not exactly sure why. We’re Texas raised and love TexMex and even the much different traditional Mexican dishes.
They do a good business so, don’t base a visit on this review. Gauge for yourself and enjoy what you enjoy.
If pressed to categorize the flavor profile, I’d liken it to Mexican food that I’ve had in more northern locations out of Texas.

I’ve been here on several occasions and loved the food and drinks. I spoke highly of this establishment to my friend who moved near by. We popped in for a margarita and asked for a table and the manager requested a table for two gorditas and a Nina. Listen sir I know what that means people speak Spanish in south Texas. I went back in and called him on what he said. He then chased me out claiming he didn’t say. Listen the food is good here I am just disgusted with our “greeting” we had so disrespectful.

Came in to have lunch with family and noticed a really strong foul septic or some Odor when entering to sit. I had to use the restroom & it got way more intense walking towards it, I had to hold my breath to enter the restroom. In the back beyond the restrooms something is going on not sure what. Because they just opened with lunch going & cooking started more it did diminish. Staff was very friendly & attentive for orders, checking on us etc. Food was okay don’t think I’ll be returning.

I came here not too long ago for happy hour... the cheese enchiladas are amazing and the staff is attentive but not to the point of being annoying. I also enjoyed a raspberry peach margarita! Will definitely be back soon!
