My husband, Rick, and I had the pleasure of experiencing the Hawkins’ restaurant, Divine Catering, on Mobberly in Longview this past Thursday. We’d ask at the doctor’s office where we could get some good food. Not only was it “down home cooking” at its BEST, the Hawkins’ family could not have been nicer! Hawkins Divine Catering and Restaurant offers excellent down-home Southern cooking. The food is fabulous, and the family-owned business treats customers like family. This small, cozy spot is a local favorite, with a small parking lot for about 5 cars. The menu features big portions, including Momma's Meatloaf, and vegetarian options are available. On Sundays, customers might be lucky enough to get a piece of the famous Pineapple cake.
The restaurant is a hidden gem that serves delicious soul food and provides a welcoming atmosphere. Customers are greeted with friendly staff and an extensive menu. The fried catfish and fried pork chops are absolutely incredible, with the fish being thin and crispy, and the pork chop being both crisp and juicy. The sides, such as purple hull peas, fried okra, corn, and mashed potatoes with brown gravy, are highly recommended. The portions are generous without being overwhelming, and the service is attentive and welcoming.
