IHOP in Lubbock

“This will be a long one but the recognition is needed;
I recently had several dining experiences at **IHOP**, and I felt compelled to take the time to recognize three individuals: Alex (busser/dishwasher)(I finally learned his name), and servers Mari and Destiny.

From the moment you walk in, it’s clear that this location thrives on teamwork and dedication. Alex, who works tirelessly behind the scenes as both a busser and dishwasher, is truly the backbone of the operation on the weekends. Many guests may not immediately see how much effort goes into keeping a restaurant running smoothly, but it becomes obvious when you pay attention. Alex is constantly moving — clearing tables quickly and efficiently, ensuring dishes are removed from each table, and stepping in wherever help is required. What stands out most is that he does all of this with a positive attitude. His work ethic contributes directly to the clean, welcoming environment that keeps customers comfortable.

Mari and Destiny both servers embody what true customer service should look like. They are attentive without being intrusive, friendly without being forced, and genuinely seem to care about each guest’s experience. They consistently check in at the right times, make thoughtful recommendations, and handle special requests with patience and kindness. During busy rushes — which is often when I visit — they remain composed, organized, and efficient. It’s impressive to watch them manage multiple tables while still making each guest feel acknowledged and valued.

If I had to offer one area for improvement, it would simply be the timing of the food reaching the table. There have been occasions where the wait felt a bit longer than expected. However, I want to emphasize that I typically visit during peak rush hours, so the delays are understandable. When a restaurant is full, some wait time is inevitable. Despite that, the staff consistently communicates updates and ensures guests are taken care of while waiting, which makes a big difference.

Overall, this IHOP location stands out because of dedicated employees like Alex, Mari, and Destiny.. They deserve recognition for the energy and care they bring to their roles every single day. I look forward to continuing to dine here, knowing I’ll be welcomed by a team that genuinely cares.“

“My experience today at IHOP was so great, and beyond the usual fluffy pancakes and crispy bacon it was made all the better by Amaris' insanely exceptional service as my wait-staff!! When you go some place to have a comfortable breakfast, it's either made better or bummer by the caliber of service, and Amaris is really really good at making you feel welcomed and taken care of. I will return next time I want a relaxing and enjoyable IHOP experience!“

“Our server, Joshua, was great! Attentive and accurate and friendly. The food was standard IHOP fare, good diner food (we had breakfast). Location was a hit sketchy on an early Saturday a.m.but the restaurant itself was well-lit and clean and secure.“
