We are big fans of Shipley Doughnuts, but they have been out of apple fritters the last 3 or 4 times we've gone there. We have gone around 11:30am on Saturdays. Give the people what they want ???But we still love them. My kids just order pink sprinkles instead ;)
This was my 2nd time to Shipleys and last, unfortunately. With no one in the drive thru but myself, I waited for about 4 minutes before someone came to the window. I ordered 2 sprinkle donuts, 2 different kolaches, a dozen donut holes and 2 new Oreo Donuts. My kolache was hard and stale, the creme for all 4 donuts was very messy and looked like the donut I shared in the photo. The taste was not bad but not good either, it reminded me of Walmart donuts. First visit since they can to Lubbock. I really like the breading of their kolaches way better than Rise N Shine, it has a nice crispy bottom and it's much less dense. The ham and cheese kolaches is SO GOOD. The fruit filled donuts are a disappointment, you can taste any breadiness of the donut because it's so thin and sugared and the follow tasted like canned pie filling. The flavored icing donuts are hot and miss - that maple is great. They all have generous toppings...
