I was very disappointed. I ordered a 5 oz burger and got MAYBE a 1.5 ounce patty. My husband also had a 5 oz and his patty was 4x the size of mine. It was a WASTE of money.
I have been coming to rays with my dad since I was a kid and the place has went down hill. We ordered our food right after my parents ordered. We had a kids burger and fries, steak fingers and a burger. Their food came out but not ours. We waited and waited and waited. Waited an hour. The three others that ordered after us got their food. I went up and asked and she said it was coming out. Anyways we left. Their service sucks. We wont be back. Worst customer service...read full review
What can I say about this place?! WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!! I was visiting from Alexandria, Louisiana with a friend who grew up in Lufkin and she suggested this place and boy I am so glad she did! The place is very clean and the people are quite friendly. Our order was ready in minutes and the food. OH MY GOSH, THE FOOD!!!!!!!! I have no words. All I can say is IT WAS A BLESSING TO THE SOUL!!!!!!!!! Next time I am in Lufkin, this will be the go-to place.

Ray's Drive In is a nostalgic restaurant with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. Its burgers are considered top notch, with some customers calling it an awesome local spot. The dine-in experience is great, and the staff has a friendly, TX charm. The restaurant offers flavors that are clearly a step above any chain, especially with its delicious burgers, including the cheeseburger with fries and onion rings. The batter used for steak fingers is different but amazing, possibly onion ring batter, and tender without any gristle. The food is served in generous portions, making it a popular spot for families. The carhop service is super friendly and efficient, adding to the enjoyable experience. Prices are reasonable, though some may find them slightly higher. Overall, Ray's remains a favorite in Lufkin, keeping a nice hometown feel in an ever-growing city, even if some meals have been served cold on occasion. Customers have enjoyed the friendly service and delicious food for over 60 years, with favorites like the Ray's Special hamburger, trout basket, and homemade onion rings, which are not frozen pre-battered. The bacon cheeseburger and tots, as well as the Frito pie, pecan pie, and strawberry shake, are highly recommended. The restaurant's vanilla shakes are particularly praised for their perfect consistency, making them easy to drink through a straw.
