We tried the gator, gumbo, and seafood eggs Benedict, and let me tell you everything was amazing. The food, the location, the service… you just can’t beat it. Thank you for sharing a piece of your family’s legacy with us. I can’t wait to return!

This place for weekend breakfast has been so great. I really like the biscuits and gravy. Those grits are also the best grits I've had in awhile. Biscuits were definitely homemade.

I cannot say enough about the experience we had! Everything was amazing 😋 Our waitress was the sweetest and the timing of the meal was perfect ☺️ kudos to the chef! The only sad part of my meal was that I couldn't finish it all and couldn't take it with me since we were 2 hours from home. Next time we are even remotely nearby we will stop in ☺️

I was driving through on my way back home to Caldwell and I came across this diamond in the rough. As someone who has lived in Louisiana, I was amazed to find this delicious Cajun cooking in Austin TX of all places! I had the gumbo and the jambalaya and man oh man was it great. The only complaint I have is that I live an hour and a half away from this place. 😩

When I went in today, there were two young ladies at the front of house. One was obviously training/assisting the other. I taught high school for years, and I can honestly say that I would have loved to have had both of them in my class! The trainee was taking direction well and the trainer was one of the most patient young adults I've ever come across. The food was really good, too, but I was much more impressed with the front of house staff! Well done, ladies.

Went for lunch and had the special -Cup of Gumbo and the Roast Beef Po Boy. It really hit the spot. Great service by Carrie. Maxine's is a comfort food spot when you need that NOLA fix. #MattGoodEats
We got into town about 20 minutes before they closed but they welcomed us in. We tried the sampler with beans and rice, jambalaya, and gumbo; and the catfish po'boy. The catfish was out of this world good. Seasoned so well and fried to perfection. Cannot recommend enough. The bread pudding had a good flavor and the sauce was really good. We took it to go, so it was kind of dense by the time we ate it, but probably because it was an hour later. If we are ever in the area again, we would stop for that catfish!
