Ok so not gonna lie I was skeptical at first. We waited a little bit but having all our kids probably just made it seem longer… BUT… when our food came out… 😍 SOOO good and everything was fresh and hot. If we had any complaints they were gone as soon as we started eating. We all got very different things and each one enjoyed. I will 100% take a wait for food that’s good, fresh, and hot any day.
The meat on their burgers are paper thin & crumbly fall apart , fries were cold, asked for no onions , when I got the burger it was full of onions , I told waitress, she took my plate & told them in the kitchen to take off the onions , it still had onion taste on it , what they should have done was made a new burger , I will not be going back , I've been there like 4 times and not satisfied with their food
Cafe 290 is a great change to our dining experience in the Taylor, TX area. From great breakfast selections to amazing entree choices, this restaurant has it all.
I believe the greatest quality this location possesses is the staff onsite.

Based on the reviews, Cafe 290 Manor is a no frills, classic roadside diner with a small town diner vibe. The restaurant has a history since the 40's and offers consistency of decades-old recipes. The food is great, with options like eggs over easy just right, crispy hash browns or cheese grits, and a Texas sized homemade biscuit with ham slab or pan sausages. A popular choice is The 290, which comes with two eggs, a choice of meat, fries, hash browns, or grits, and a short stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes. The pancakes are delicious and the quantities are pretty big. The menu is very big and has a lot of options. Service is always fast and friendly, with an efficient personable waitstaff that keeps coffee cups full. The folks that work there work fast, hard, and make each customer feel welcomed and valued. However, the restaurant could use some attention and care, as the AC does not work well and it is very hot inside, and the can lights have issues with flickering.
