El Divino Dining & Cocktails

El Divino is one of our very favorite places to eat. The food and drinks are consistently excellent (since 2013!) and the restaurant is beautiful with a separate room for private functions. The fillet and Brussels sprouts are the best in McAllen and the burger is very good - it’s the dish visiting friends remember when we take them there. Make sure to ask for Jess, our favorite server, for a great dining experience. She always remembers our drink order, makes us feel so welcome, and is a huge part of why we keep coming back.

Waited over 2 hrs to get tab. Places was very unaccommodating to paying customers. Don’t bother cuz apparently the chef has to be ok with it first. 🙄

Walked in as paying customers on a slow, nearly empty day—only to be asked to leave because I was wearing a sleeveless shirt. Not a tank, not gym wear—just a standard sleeveless top. When I questioned why a woman nearby wearing something nearly identical wasn’t being asked to leave, there was no clear answer.

That’s not just a bad look—it’s gender-based discrimination, plain and simple. Businesses are allowed to set dress codes, but they must be applied equally to all patrons, regardless of gender identity or presentation. Selective enforcement like this could violate civil rights protections under both state and federal law.

We were respectful, paying customers supporting your business during a slow time. Instead, we were singled out and turned away based on inconsistent, biased enforcement of an unclear policy. I’ll be reporting this and encouraging others to do the same.

If your rules only apply to certain people, that’s not policy—it’s prejudice.

I have been here multiple times and it was always great. I stopped going after they removed these particular ribs from their menu :( They were Scrumptious and so tasty! So, once they are back, I’ll be too.

The ambiance is beautiful and the staff is friendly. The cocktail menu is Divine ♥️

This has been one of our go-to's for cocktails at least 5 years when we visit the valley. We usually sit at the bar and try a few of their cocktails with some apps. Pretty knowledgeable bartenders, passionate about their craft, and the roasted cauliflower is mind-blowing.

My friends & I come here for the quieter atmosphere that allows us to calmy enjoy a glass of wine over conversation.
