My wife and I recently dined at Hacienda Las Mariposas, and our first impression was good. The venue itself has an elegant vibe to it, reminiscent of an old-fashioned, swanky Spanish homestead -- a place one does not go to parade their disdain for proper etiquette by wearing torn jeans or failing to remove their hat indoors. Suffice it to say, we had equally high expectations of the food and service.They did not disappoint.We ordered the mixed botana for two, and it was easily one of the best we have had in the RGV. The presentation was excellent, the fajita was tender and juicy, and the trimmings were packed with flavor. Our side dish of choriqueso was tasty as well, and the complimentary cheesecake (we were celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary) was the best we had in years. The whole table was a feast for the eyes, to say nothing of the palate, and the portions were such that we had plenty of leftovers at the end. Our waiter, I should note, was very attentive from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, offering us something like the royal treatment - as my wife put it - and in so doing earned our manifest appreciation (read generous tip.) Granted, it was not the busiest time of day, but for that reason alone the best time for dining there.All in all, we enjoyed the restaurant. We found it to be a perfect choice for the occasion, and I can see it becoming one of our favorite haunts. We might even dine on the patio next time, the views from which are nice enough to fill the pages of a scenic wall calendar. Give the place a try. We highly recommend it.

Food APPEARED to be a bit overpriced until I tasted it. Then I realized it was fairly priced. The quality was very good. With food prices soaring, it seems they chose not to cut quality and thus had to charge more. This food is well worth paying a little extra for.

I was disappointed because the online pictures look appealing but the place has an incomplete look. There was always a table out of place or a cleaning bucket out. At the patio area there is no signage towards an exit or boundaries and the gardening tools are in plane view. I had a chile relleno which was better than most I've had. My husband had enchiladas which he enjoyed as well. The shocking part for us were the chips that tasted old and bland- it's puzzling that they got the most basic part wrong. The cocktails were very tasty although the bartender looked out of place by what she was wearing. Customer service was ok but doesn't even compare to La Fogata or even a Chik-Fil-A.

It's a beautiful place. I'm only giving it 3 stars because of the entre i got. We were there to celebrate a birthday. Everyone got their entrees, and they look great, so i was expecting a gourmet burger, which is what i ordered. Well, to my surprise, i think a street vendors burger had a better presentation than this. It wasn't tasty either, but alas a burger. Very disappointing. I did try other entrees, and they were good. If you go, dont get the burger. Oh, btw i asked for pickles, and they said they didn't have any. Even sadder. The waiter wasn't very nice either. He didn't want to serve us coffee. I guess it was too much work to make coffee. We did manage to convince him for the birthday boy, though. So the coffee is tasty.

Awesome place. You can dine indoors or outdoors on the patio. Love the atmosphere, staff is very friendly and helpful, and the food is amazing. The fajitas were tender and delicious. Alex attended the group I was with very well, we were all pleased.

Was very excited to try this place as a friend from San Antonio was coming down to visit. Unfortunately the staff here is very rude and unwelcoming. Upon entering the hostess looked at me blankly and asked in an annoyed tone what do you need?? I asked if we could be seated on the patio she said she would see.. the waiter went out to check and said there was a table outside for us. Then she proceeded to attempt to seat us inside even though the waiter said there was a table outside for us. It wasn’t until I brought it to the waiters attention that they begrudgingly sat us outside. To say I was embarrassed and disappointed is an understatement. The food was very expensive for average quality. The hostess needs some feedback from management on how to treat guests. Save your time and money and go to a different restaurant. Especially if it’s a special occasion.

The resturant is normally not busy during the week but they fail to always have the items on the menu. Three out of the five times I have recently gone and they didn't have the shrimp app, cabrito, and an item I cannot remember. Management should emphasize a weekend menu and week day menu. I took my grandmother for cabrito because the server would constantly recommend it. So I went around 2 PM during a Thursday and no cabrito. Loved the experience but will not dine in again. The food is okay. Nothing fancy here are some photos .

Went for my birthday and it was everything I had hoped for. The only thing is I wish the band scheduled to play on Thursdays would have been playing instead of the radio station. The ambiance was still calm and pleasant. The food was amazing and so was the service.

My spouse and I go at least twice a month. The food and drinks are great. I have yet to have a bad experience. The waiters have also remembered and greeted us- even when they weren’t our waiters for the day.
