We thought we were going to On The Border but it's now this place. Food was good and reasonable prices. Drinks good but NO specials. The girl that waited on us did seem like she really wanted us there. Was always talking with other employees. We were the only ones there, a table of 6, and service was slow. The kitchen was open to the dining area and it was noisy. I noticed that in the reviews area there is something about salsa. We were told they did NOT have salsa. We wanted to order chips and salsa and were told didn't have

I took my son to OTB for his birthday lunch. We used to go to an OTB in Illinois and loved the Rancheladas so we were looking forward to the same meal here. We were very disappointed. Apparently this restaurant has an entirely different way of preparing Rancheladas. They were terrible. The steak was overdone and neither of us liked the enchiladas.
My son ordered the Tres Leches dessert which was supposed to be nut free. It apparently was not because he had a reaction to it. The service was not very good either. We spent over $80.00 on food that we didn't care for. We won't be back.

I placed a pickup order. When I got home, I opened the containers and found half my food was missing. They gave me a single enchilada and never gave me my two empanadas.

Staying at the Hotel that this location is inside of. Ordered from their menu to have food delivered to our hotel room. Was told 15 minutes. After 1 hour of waiting, I called the restaurant only to find out that our order was never prepared. They took the order, repeated it and promised 15 minutes. Now I’m finding out they never prepared the order. They offered no apology and generally acted like they didn’t care. My order was placed outside of peak dining hours.

Came in here walking around the area hearing the music. Atmosphere was nice with live music but it is a much older crowd so nothing crazy just people dancing. Food was ok mixed drinks not so good we actually tossed two drinks that werent good at all. Had indoor bar and indoor/outdoor seating live music is outside.

Food was delicious, but they opened an hour late, with the only explanation being "Can't find him."
Can't find who? The person who's suppose to open the restaurant?

Horrible service, it's all new people that don't know what they're doing. Management is horrible. I miss what embassy used to be when Paola and Jess used to work there. Where's Germain?

We've always liked coming here for the food and atmosphere, but the last three times we've been there the service has been going downhill. Our last time here, we were waiting in line for a table, the server pulled 2 people from behind us in line and sat them instead. When we were finally seated, we sat there for 20 minutes with not 1 person coming to our table to take our order or even acknowledging us, even though several made eye contact with us, but wouldn't stop when we'd ask if we could get service. We unfortunately will not be back to the McAllen location.

On The Border it’s a hidden gem. Their food it’s amazing. They have the best Birria tacos I tried. Their bowls are incredible. Very tasty food. Totally recommend it.

Unless you're wanting to go dancing and party, do not go to this restaurant on Friday or Saturday.
I was staying in the embassy suites for a couple of days and I had the displeasure of eating at this establishment. At first I tried to sit at the bar but by the looks of it (because it was a Friday) the venue had shifted into a nightclub setting. The bartenders were getting trampled by all the guests and as a result I had slow service.
Afterwards I tried sitting at the restaurant to order food. It took forever to get greeted by a server. I ordered the birria at the suggestion of the server and it was horrible. The quesadillas were dripping in grease before I even was able to dunk them in the consumé. The taste of everything was arguably the worst interpretation of tex mex I've ever tried. The server did not check in to make sure the food was good until it began getting cold. At this point I'm exhausted and not having a good time so I asked for a box and leave.
On the bright side, the chips and salsa wasnt bad. The rice and beans were okay as well.
