Shogun Hibachi & Sushi

Spending seventy dollars on two simple dinners should feel like a small indulgence, not a mild insult. You sit down expecting basic hospitality, or at least a gesture that acknowledges the price tag. Instead, there’s no complimentary drink, no water beyond the bare minimum, no sense of appreciation. It’s frustrating to pay premium prices and receive bare-bones service that feels transactional and cold. The food might be amazing, but the experience feels hollow. When costs rise this high, courtesy matters. A small drink would signal care. Without it, the meal feels overpriced, disappointing, and oddly disrespectful to loyal paying customers.

My family has been going to shogun for 24 years and it has been consistently great food and service! Carlos is a fantastic chef and we always have plenty of leftovers for the next day. Can’t recommend enough!

This is a good hibachi restaurant for a really fair price. I won’t say it is the best I have been to but it is also very reasonable. It has a full bar and good sushi too. I would definitely go back and recommend it to friends.

I came for lunch with my daughter. They were nice to give us a seat at the hibachi though there were only four altogether. The show was good and the food excellent. Also, the price for lunch was low for a Japanese hibachi.

Food was great and the cook was great. Went for my birthday and really enjoyed myself. My family all had a great time and my sister brought a baby. At one point the baby had to be sit in time out and the staff had no problem with that which was very nice. Will definitely be returning.

When I first moved to McKinney in 2008, a friend brought me here for my birthday and it was great. I loved the birthday drums so I went back a few months later and took my husband there for the first time for his birthday and he really enjoyed it. I went back with my family on 8/24/2025 for dinner. The food was good and server was kind but the atmosphere was a bit somber considering there were a decent amount of people there for Sunday dinner. There was not much energy with the birthday drums and only like two staff members participated even though there were more than several standing about. I so much wanted this to be our alternative to Benihana but no chance. I would possibly try again once I see better reviews in the future.

We made reservations for my sons birthday. They confirmed his bday at seating as did the chef. The server Ruth had to be rudest server I’ve ever encountered in my life. No smiles, zero interaction besides taking our food order. She never brought the appetizers, no apologies, ignored it was my sons birthday. In fact we didn’t see her again until she brought the check without asking us if we wanted dessert or singing him happy birthday. Miserable birthday dinner thanks to her. Our chef on the other hand was amazingly kind and funny. Our food was great thanks to him.

With that being said, we will never go back based on service. Hire new servers please.

DELICIOUS!!!!! Fast service, large portions & perfect flavor! We (group of 8 w/ a 3yr old) went to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Everything was on point it was the first time visiting for our entire group and we all left satisfied. We will definitely be returning! Thank you Shogun. 😁
