Food is always hot and tastes pretty good overall. My chief complaint is that every takeout meal is always missing something. Make sure to account for and check your meals have all the side before walking out the door. Today it was missing sides last time a whole plate.

I never leave reviews but today I must. I eat at Ellis County at least twice a month, the reason I’m posting a 5 star review is due to Shawn, (new owner) came over to apologize about running out of peach cobbler and ice cream. Not only did he apologize but he insisted on Giving us banana pudding and a chocolate chip cookie and ice cream. On top of an incredible chop beef sandwich and fried okra (best fried okra I’ve had), the pudding and cookie were definitely a pleasant surprise. Shawn, your kindness and incredible bbq will always keep me coming back for more and one of these visits I’ll try something else, (chop beef) is definitely the bomb. Thanks again for your kind hospitality.Sammy

Like many of the reviews, we found the meat to be extremely dry and lacking any smoke flavor. The brisket seemed to have been baked, pre-sliced and reheated. If not for the sauce it would be inedible. A small sticker on the menu gave an updated meat price. $2 per pound more than normal. Considering their additional 4% charge, our experience was very disappointing.Unfortunate, because the area really needs a top notch BBQ place.

Everything was pretty average..the brisket was fall apart tender but alittle dry. The beans tasted like ranch style beans and potato salad was average. The jalapeño cheese sausage was cold but good. The waitress only came around once after taking our orders. In my opinion the prices are too high..was $88 for 3 people to have lunch and that was before the tip.

Update: they didn't like my accurate review on Facebook and blocked me, way to go new business owner. I recommend taking the reviews and making the changes needed instead of ignoring them and blocking customers.Please work with your cooks on what moist brisket is. I ordered 1/4 lb. of brisket (moist) & 1/4 lb. of Jalapeño Cheddar sausage to go.....the brisket was dryer than a popcorn fart. I had hopes that the new ownership would turn this around but it hasn't yet. I'll give them another shot but it needs to step up.

I visited right at opening, hoping for the freshest and best food. What I recieved wasn’t that. The young lady at the front was super sweet and spoke highly of the food. I ordered the ribs, brisket, sausage, macaroni & cheese and potato salad. To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. The meat all read dry and lacked seasoning. The macaroni was over done and dry as well. I spent $30 on my meal and hoped for much more.
The food is killer, sides are just as goodand now they have coke ha haJust know if you ask for lean you need to know the best bbq isn’t lean it’s the juicy endYou know I’ll be back
High school plaques were on the walls. But there was only 1 table of 5 or 6 kids. Bar was noisy and packed so it was confusing. Guess thats the draw. Very dark outside so hard to tell the f they are open or not
