The Mess Around - Upscale Southern Comfort Food

Terrible, ordered good and coffee and waited 30 mins for this dude to spill the coffee on me and tell me he never ordered my food, I can see why you people deserve more than minimum wage….. learn how to make a decent cup of joe pls

The blonde lady that served us was not nice. We had a party of 6 and we sat inside the other dining room. She looked upset that we were in that room, like she didn't want to use that room and make it dirty. The table clothes were dirty like they don't get washed or switched out alot. The tiny tin water cup they gave had old avacado on it. When my wife asked for a glass of water with ice as her drink. She was told that she already had water as they pointed to the tiny cup with no ice. So she got a lemonade that was super watered down. It was my family's first time, and we will not be going back.
All the eggs were overcooked, eggs Benedict was more like hard boiled eggs on english muffin. French toast almost cold when we got it (and $9 for two pieces is way overpriced in my opinion), no salt/pepper/condiments were on the table or even offered. The server handed every plate to my wife even though hers was clearly the first one in front of her. The only way I would recommend this to anyone is if you like poor service and overpaying for poor quality.

First time to try this place cuz of what’s on the menu..we walked in, no host/hostess, food came out pretty quick after we placed our order, I had the creole Benedict, meatloaf was dry, didn’t look like it was freshly made, nothing to rave about the jalapeño corn bread. I don’t recommend it.

I always retry this place every few months or so because I miss the old “crosswalk cafe” it used to be. The food and service under the new “mess around” has never been good, times I’ve been in the past it’s takes forever to get a server and the food has always just been mediocre and cold, visited yesterday with some friends in town and still we were disappointed. I miss the old crosswalk cafe

My husband and I enjoyed such a lovely brunch at the mess around. The French toast was delicious and the staff were so kind and attentive. The atmosphere is so relaxing. We sat on their cute little patio as it was a gorgeous day. We will most definitely be coming back

My wife and I went for a Saturday Brunch and the food was spectacular! Great comfort food options, the French Toast was a nice fluffy brioche bread, and my wife had the avocado toast! Highly recommend!

The food was okay, cold but not bad, the service however is awful. It took forever to get our order in and to receive it, I had ordered water (the only drink I ordered) and it took until the food came out 40 minutes later to get water. The waitress was never around and my fiancé had to go hunt someone down to pay. Not worth the price but it is a cute area.

Quite odd, arrived two hours before closing, restaurant was mostly empty and the waiter did not want to seat 8 of us.

The breakfast menu is horrendous stale bacon and cold eggs. Somehow the baked goods were warm though?
The french toast is mid too like I really just spent $50 here like really???

Enjoyed sitting on the patio, but the food was the worst I’ve had at breakfast in a long time. Everything tasted like it was out of a package or frozen. Paid and left hungry. Couldn’t even attempt to finish. Service was poor. Regretfully won’t be back.

Cold food served on paper plates and cheap plastic utensils. Was severely disappointed as the general reviews here are positive. Had breakfast plate. Eggs were burnt on the top facing side, small broken bacon and cold unseasoned potatoes. If it wasn't for the fact it was my first time being here, I would have thought they had a grudge against me. Won't be back. There is nothing upscale about this except for the prices.

I’m going to start off by saying,, That I love this place it’s so quaint!!
There is so many Positive reviews.. But, I think that some of these waiters are picking and choosing who they want to serve and make their day!
Because my experience was terrible I felt like chopped liver!
First thing in the morning, you want your coffee,, And a waiter should know,,common sense is to greet your customers and offer them a cup of coffee.
Even if he’s the only one on the floor.
You will know how to distribute your time wisely, so that you can take care of your customers. This does not mean sit and chat with them,,when there is only two tables. 🙄
I have always enjoyed this place. I love the atmosphere. I think it’s a nice nice place.,, and yes, the food is very, very good.
But,,if you are a waiter or a waitress and you don’t like your job, maybe it’s time to move on..
SO don’t mess around and get some new waiters and some new waitresses that will actually cater to everyone evenly!!
Because at the end of the meal, you just want that 20% tip and it’s not gonna happen, if you can’t step up to the plate!!
Think about it it’s not as reasonable to eat out anymore, So when you want to, it’s always nice to have someone that will cater to you 😊.
