Pho Mac offers a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere with peaceful music and friendly staff. Their pho is a highlight, with the 20oz chicken pho being a delicious option. The bun bo hue is also a popular choice, with generous portions and spicy flavors. The restaurant has simplified its menu in recent years to adapt, but the food is still pretty good. The pho is smooth with a slight sweet taste, and the rice dishes are good with the grilled pork, though more basic than the broken rice dishes found elsewhere. The banh xeo is the best dish, coming out very crispy and piping hot.

The restaurant is generally not too busy on weekdays. It is clean, with quick service and plenty of seating options, including tables and booth seats. The noise level is moderate. The fried egg rolls arrive hot and fresh, but the filling has more of a soft, potato-like texture rather than a distinct pork flavor. The fresh spring rolls, however, are excellent, with a generous portion and very fresh ingredients. The accompanying peanut sauce is also flavorful and complements the rolls well. The chicken pho, in a 30 oz bowl, is a substantial portion with plenty of broth, noodles, and chicken, and the broth has a smooth, balanced flavor without overpowering spices.

The bun bo hue always has the right amount of spice and umami, though it may not be very traditional as it doesn't include pork hock and blood cube. The service can be a little slow when the restaurant is busy, but the taste and consistency of the bun bo hue are well worth the price.
