Some of the best BBQ in Texas!! Fast service and extremely pleasant staff. If you want to try something different, ask for one of their BBQ baked tamales. Don't be shy, try their jalapeno creamed corn too!

We stopped into LaVaca BBQ based on seeing a shirt that sparked a conversation. The shirt said: Jesus, Texas, Brisket. Being Christians and an avid lover of Q, I chat with the owner of the shirt, a Methodist Pastor from Victoria who urged us to head out. Before starting, we loved our trip to Lavaca. The Q was outstanding - some things were amazing and others were just okay for us.We arrived early on a Thursday morning for lunch ready to go. Our meat selections were brisket, ribs, both sausages types and two different tamales. For sides we ordered the Mac/cheese, brisket beans and creamed corn. The brisket was outstanding, not two salty, not too peppery - perfect. 5/5 The ribs were a little soft and a little too sweet for my preference but in their defense, they were Big Red ribs. The sausage was a real winner for me. The Serrano cheddar sausage is something I’ll be comparing other sausages to for a long time. Those were over the moon. 5/5If I were returning which I probably won’t since I don’t see myself in the area again (live in a different state), I’d pass on the tamales. They were okay but it felt like they were trying to be unique and it just wasn’t anything special, to me anyways. 3/5The jalapeño creamed corn was fantastic. Hint of spiciness but just delicious 5/5The pork belly Mac and cheese was also a winner 5/5. The beans were super okay, I wouldn’t get those if I returned. 2/5.We also tried the bourbon cheesecake and banana pudding. The cheesecake was good but not amazing but the banana pudding was a homer, 5/5.When I look at the full experience, Lavaca is one of the better top Texas joints I’ve been to. I highly recommend it. Despite not everything being a grand slam, there were plenty of individual knockouts to easily give this place a glowing 5/5 recommendation.Bathrooms were clean 5/5Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”Romans 6:23, “For the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 10:9, “That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”Romans 10:13 “for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”Romans 5:1 “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

ALERT: TOP TEN ENTRY FOR SAUSAGE NATIONWIDE. Our 91st 'cue stop in Texas and 381st nationwide brought us to one of the 2021 Texas Monthly Magazine top 50. What a worthy choice! $57.91 purchased a half pound of fatty brisket, which is very well smoked, exceptionally moist, and blessed with a superb pink ring and bark. We also purchased a serrano cheese sausage, which we would rate among the five best sausages to be found in BBQ circles anywhere. Then there's the pork belly taco (well smoked, moist and full of flavor); it pairs very, very well with the onions offered here. The four sides that we tried were all well prepared, testifying to the strength that we found here across the menu. The jalapeno creamed corn is neither dry nor mushy, but hits the sweet spot. The jalapeno coleslaw has great flavor, the brisket beans and potato salad are both full of flavor as well. And finally … a fairly light, modestly sweet and wonderfully tasting banana pudding brought an end to a sensational meal. Lavaca BBQ carries our highest recommendation.

We were very much looking forward to trying this place. Arrived to find a very cool atmosphere from what appeared to previously be a gas station. While ordering, we witnessed cross contamination on their meat scale from all meats & juices without changing the cover sheet or separate containers. Delicious homemade pickles & onions. Meat was room temperature, pulled pork sandwich was very soggy, & brisket was tender but needed sauce for flavor. Price was on the high side.. Maybe just an off day but we won’t be back.

I was hyped to try this place I ordered the Brisket and Ribs with Jalapeño beans and Potato Salad. Okay so the Brisket tasted like it’s from a crock pot wasn’t a Smokey flavor ate all and the Ribs tasted some what sweet maybe some folk like that but it’s not for me I tried without BBQ sauce first then with it the BBQ sauce which was very vinegary I just wasn’t feeling it the Jalapeño beans tasted nothing like Jalapeño it was pretty dull Potato salad was okay over all it was just okay for the price I really expected better. The Corn Bread was really good. The Staff are really nice people.

Traditional? Yes. Modern? Absolutely. While getting all the comfort of texas barbecue, you get a new spin on cream corn, coleslaw and tacos. I loved the pork belly tacos and cream corn so much! While the green beans were good, them being sweetened with sugar is odd and not my favorite. Their house made bbq sauces are a must try! And can you really beat complimentary blue bell?!

This place was an absolute home run!!! It's definitely a quaint family owned place with amazing service!! Lots of gluten free options. Kelli (the owner) and Hunter helped us make the best choices for our meals, then as we were paying we found out they offer free Lone Star beer and free Blue Bell ice cream with the meals. Hunter came to the table to check on us, was incredibly personable, and even offered to take our photo with the cow out front. The meat was fresh, moist, cooked perfectly, and flavorful! We had: brisket sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, potato salad, homemade pickles, mac belly, ribs, and a pulled pork taco.Kid-friendliness: Definitely a family friendly place!Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free meats and options for sides

Not a fan of the food. Brisket is tender but needs more seasoning. BBQ sauce is thin like water. Texas Monthly has hyped this place up. The prices are outrageous!
