About Antojitos Salvadoreños

Antojitos Salvadoreños is a restaurant at the Sunset on the Rise Food Truck Park in Round Rock. The food truck has a steady flow of customers, and some appear to be regulars. Customers can grab their food and listen to music in the courtyard while dining. The food truck spot has a nice huge covered place to eat with misters to help keep you cool, lots of tables, family games, and bathrooms that are nicer than HEB ones. There are lots of beers on tap or bottle.

The pupusas are always a hit. The chicken and cheese and shrimp and cheese pupusas were fluffy, flavorful and hot. It was like eating a pancake made from a cloud. The chicken and pork pupusas were flavorful and good, and when you mix the veggies with the sauce and put them on, it tastes really fresh. The pupusas de chicharron were delicious. The pork papusa was really good, especially the little burnt cheese bits around the edges. As a person of Salvadoran descent and a person who makes pupusas, these are 100% authentic and absolutely delicious. The quality and service is consistent. Service was friendly and familial. You were given a buzzer to be rang when your food was ready. They mostly speak Spanish so it may help to know how to order what you want. They were super busy and nice, so locals know this is the place to get good food. The food did take a while but they were making them fresh starting from the masa. They came out super hot, and were almost falling apart but held together by the gooey cheese. There is a nice cheese pull.

The steak plate was so good, and the side refried beans were delicious, all under $20. The plátanos are so good. Please try the Pupusas, Yuca Frita, Carne Asada plate and everything else. Please try these banana leaf tamales, so much more moist and better overall than the corn husk tamales. In their tamales, they oddly use raw French fries to supplement the chicken or pork filling. It doesn't really take away, but definitely doesn't add anything at all to the final product. Also odd is their choice to package their salsa in a tied plastic bag instead of a ramekin, which makes things more messy than they need to be.
