The chicken fried steak was small and chewy. I felt like all the portions were small and overpriced

First visit tonight. The fries green tomatoes were Amazing!!! The tangy sauce and cilantro slaw made the dish. I had the chicken with Mac n cheese. It was very hot served in the skillet. To top it off we had the blonde brownie with Mexican vanilla ice cream. I highly recommend the appetizer and dessert. I plan to return and try the steak salad w onion rings. The lady next to me had it and the steak smelled delicious.

Perfect Perfect Perfect! Appertizers are so good, Sweet tea was the best I have ever had, no after taste, right sweetness and right amount of ice.

We are HUGE fans of Jack Allen’s in Round Rock, but every time we have been it’s been beyond FREEZING in the restaurant! Like walk-in cooler level cold! Even coming prepared with a jacket, it was absolutely far too cold to even enjoy our dinner. The food is always amazing, but it’s hard to focus on enjoying yourself when you are so cold you just want to hurry up and leave.

Enjoyed lunch with several friends from the Round Rock Chamber. Our server was attentive and friendly. The noise level was perfect for us to have a great lunch meeting and still hear our conversation. The menu has a lot of options and our server helped a couple of friends who had never been there with selections. We enjoyed all the food if we had one little nitpick it would be that the Fried Green Tomatoes had too much batter to tomato ratio. While it was still tasty we would have preferred to be able to taste the tomato as well.

This was my first time at this delightful farm-to-table restaurant. The crab-stuffed chicken breast entree was wonderful. My husband had a delicious burger. I tasted his fries/sweet potato fries. They were among the best I have ever had.
Update in 2026: Many visits later, still one of my favorite Austin restaurants. Jack Allen's never disappoints.

Vicki was such a joy and took wonderful care of our visit. She is vivacious and brought a ton of joy to our dining experience. 10/10

Took a star off because they still use those INFERNAL paper straws. We have FAR too many red eared slider turtles in central TX to justify my straw MELTING in my drink, so a few plastic straws would be good to cut down their numbers a bit. They’re good for the environment since we have a turtle overpopulation issue here. So get rid of them and reply and I give my star back.

Try brunch it never disappoints! The breakfast potatoes are excellent, which is a hard goal to accomplish. I also like the side of silver dollar pancakes.
