Great Karoo Marketplace Buffet

My family and I stayed at Kalahari on a Sunday and Monday. I'd been here before with my sister on a Saturday and they had a HUGE buffet so I was excited to come again. I was worried that since we were going to have breakfast on Monday and the resort was pretty dead, that the buffet would be limited so my husband went and asked the front desk on Sunday afternoon and they assured him there would be a full buffet on Monday morning. We get there on Monday morning, pay the ridiculous $30 per person, only to get to the buffet and see it was VERY limited! I was so mad! I understand if you don't want to provide a full buffet on weekdays because it's not busy enough, but why would you charge the same amount?! I understand that the front desk at Kalahari gave us bad info but if it's the same price I should get the same options for food. Ridiculous.

While staying at Kalahari Resort, we had breakfast brunch at this restaurant. We were seated promptly by friendly staff. Has excellent, wide selection to choose from. Dishes were quite tasty.

Weekend buffet breakfast at its best. No need to stay in the resorts, anyone can go. For 30 bucks, you cannot go wrong!

Server Lesego made our visit at the buffet marvelous. She helped us and took care of us all the time. She also made it possible that my sister got a surprise birthday cupcake, and also took pictures for us. The buffet was great, food was great, and the atmosphere felt awesome! Marvelous place and really great people!

Service was exceptional. David was kind and attentive. The buffet is extensive and has something for everyone. A little pricey. We spent $94.48 for two adults, one child, but that’s a resort buffet for you. Gratuity is automatically included. There’s a great Bloody Mary bar and they serve mimosas. Drinks are around $12 each. Definitely worth a stop, but I wouldn’t rely on this for breakfast every day of your stay unless you’re willing to rack up some serious room charges.

We’ve tried almost every restaurant at Kalahari. This has been our favorite so far. Enjoyed the brunch buffet, lots of options from meats to omelets, pastries, parfaits, fruit, juices, coffee and more. Little pricey but it is a resort.
Edit: we have been here 3 times now and one thing that needs improvement is the service. Super slow to get initial drinks-like halfway done with a plate before even getting a beverage-and their restocking of items timely. They should either take drink orders when they seat you and write them on the paper they leave at the table so the server knows what to get you-or do it self-service- which honestly I would prefer. Several of the hot food items were not at all hot-cold potatoes. The milk for the coffee on one visit was not from a tiny carafe it was room temperature packets.

My review is a little late, but well deserved. We had breakfast the morning after our stay at Kalahari back in March and it was delicious. On my second trip (of at least 3 lol) to the buffet my 4 year old daughter and I passed Saathvik V working diligently clearing plates off the tables. My daughter waved and said “good morning” to Saathvik and his face lit up with happiness. He was working so tirelessly he appeared caught off guard. He returned to our table later to ensure we were all taken care of. He wasn’t our server, but he went out of his way to follow up with us on our needs.I just wanted to say ‘thank you’ to Saathvik for making my daughter’s and my family’s day extra special. Your attention to detail making sure the restaurant was cleared and clean made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable and your thoughtful attitude brought an even bigger smile to my daughters face.

my server was Melanie. She was amazing and very fast with our food. Had amazing conversations with her. Best server I’ve had in my entire life.
