Umi Hot Pot Sushi & Seafood Buffet offers a mixed dining experience. The service can be amazing, with some waitresses making sure tables are cleaned and water is refilled, though other staff may be slow or give a cold greeting. The food is good but not great; the sushi is fresh with great options, and the selection is amazing for a full conversation with friends. However, the lobsters are very small, crab legs are small, and there were never lobster tails or filled buffet items. The dessert section is lacking. For the price, there are better sushi and seafood buffets around Austin. The restaurant is a very nice place, clean and good for a family lunch with diverse food within the Asian context. The hotpot broth is underwhelming, and labeling is clunky. Dust bunnies and food splatters on the booth side wall are not upscale. Most likely won't go back, especially not for the pricing.
