Bakudan Ramen

I looooove the chicharron ramen TRUST ME it is AWESOME 🤩!!! Try it!!! And my husband loved the Ichiran Ramen 🥰

3.3 stars. It was packed for a Sunday (but no wait time). The food was ok - not super delicious, but not bland. It was somewhat fast service - and moderately priced. Nice decor - ok cleanliness. I think it's best during the colder weather - hot soups during the summer months are generally not advised.

I went to Bakudan Ramen twice in one week—that’s how much I loved it!

The first time, I tried the “Pozole” Ramen, which came with shredded pork, hominy, cabbage, and radish in a rich, flavorful broth. I paired it with one of their cocktails that came beautifully garnished with an orchid and a chili-lime rim. It was refreshing and paired so well with the ramen.

The second time, I had the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen, loaded with pork broth, tonkotsu base, chili oil, ground pork, mushrooms, veggies, and a seasoned egg. It had the perfect balance of spice and umami.

Both dishes came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The portions were generous, and every bite was satisfying.

On top of the food, the restaurant itself is colorful and fun—the umbrellas on the ceiling, the wall art, and the neon signs really set a lively atmosphere.

I’ll definitely be coming back here again soon. Highly recommend if you’re looking for ramen in San Antonio!

First time to Bakudan. Overall a very positive experience. Party of 3x (one of our party included someone who studied in Kyoto) on a Thursday evening. About 80% full when we arrived. Service was quick and friendly. Atmosphere has the interesting Anime/Manga vibe to it, so it was fun to look around. Food portions are generous and all were rated as very good (yes, we agree they lack some of the kick that others have mentioned, our Kyoto member agreed the food was not a flavorful), but you can always add seasoning.

I had high hopes for the food here but it was just... weak. Like if you going to do ramen the broth is key. I can find better broth from Nissin Raoh instant noodles. They have ok toppings, service was friendly, and the restaurant was ok. The food was just bland, especially the ramen.

Wow, what a gem! 😍 Visiting from Miami for a friend’s wedding, we stopped by for happy hour ramen and were blown away! The atmosphere was fantastic, the food was absolutely amazing, and our server Briana was so attentive, informative, and cheerful—truly a 10/10 experience! 🍜✨

My dumb self accidentally ordered takeout at the wrong location, but the staff here went above and beyond and fulfilled my order anyway. Definitely saved me from a trip to the other side of town. Great customer service and I appreciate them going out of their way to help me.

Im here on a Sunday around 5pm. I've been here many times before and this time I feel like this place is struggling with its identity. It feels like a nighclub and less like the old Bakudan that I'm used to. Bakudan, please turn on the warm lights again and turn the music down a lil bit. I want to see what Im eating and have a pleasant conversation not screaming to my partner like at a nightclub.

Awesome food, the service was amazing !!! Michelle took very good care of us and made sure we had everything we needed. I ordered the Ichiran ramen which was delicious, savory garlic oil and sweet pork. My boyfriend had the Spicy Umami Miso ramen, he said it was great. He says the flavors of the miso broth really stuck out and made the dish. We look forward to the next date we have here !!!!
