I am sad to write this review but think it’s important others are aware. From a service and atmosphere standpoint our visit was excellent and as expected from a higher end steakhouse. All the food (with the exception of my husband’s steak - more on that later) was well done, perfectly seasoned, good presentation, delivered timely and at a good temperature. My steak was perfectly cooked to a medium rare. Now, to the disappointment. There are two components: my husband steak and then what was done about it. He ordered medium rare (as confirmed by our wonderful waiter) and his steak was deliver dark purple on the inside (so rare that my meat loving husband couldn’t eat it - although he tried). It was sent back where it was reheated and delivered very rare (slightly lighter purple) AGAIN. Someone in the kitchen clearly didn’t know what they were doing. Second issue: they took the steak back and for a third time “cooked” it. Manage comes over and apologizes, but no comp of any kind, no can I get you something else, no I’d like to treat you to some dessert. NOTHING. We spent $450 that night for two people. Tipped the waiter 20% as normal. All for my husband to get a steak that was cooked 3 times at a steakhouse and no show of remorse. I’m very disappointed that on a bit like that Brenner’s would be willing to loose a customer.
Something is clearly going sideways in this kitchen and/or with management is this was allowed to happen.
Title: Aaron Turned It Around — From Disappointment to a Night to Remember
We visited Brenner’s Steakhouse as a party of nine to celebrate my sister’s 50th birthday — a milestone we were truly excited about. Unfortunately, our evening began with a server whose attitude was dismissive, arrogant, and frankly unwelcoming. For a moment, it felt like our special night might be overshadowed by poor service.
After voicing our concerns to management, we were reassigned to Aaron — and from that moment on, the entire experience shifted.
Aaron was nothing short of exceptional. He stepped in with warmth, professionalism, and an attention to detail that immediately put us at ease. He handled our large group flawlessly, ensuring drinks were refilled, special requests were met, and every single guest felt seen and valued. He had the perfect balance of personality and polish, making us feel both celebrated and cared for — which is exactly what the night called for.
Aaron didn’t just serve our table; he saved our celebration. The food was outstanding, but Aaron was the true highlight. He transformed what could have been a disappointing evening into a joyful, memorable night that honored the occasion beautifully.
To Brenner’s management: Aaron is a standout. He embodies the level of excellence your restaurant is known for. Please recognize him accordingly — he absolutely deserves it.
As for the original server: I hope this is taken seriously. There is no room for that kind of service in a fine dining environment, especially when guests are celebrating once-in-a-lifetime milestones.
There’s hardly any room in the bar area to have a cocktail while waiting for your table to be ready.
Steak was prepared well. The creamy spinach dip was amazing. A bit pricey but taste great
Food is ok
First time there and the food, customer service and atmosphere was great!! Lorenzco made our experience there phenomenal, I would highly recommend asking for him if you’re stopping by!!
Carlos did an amazing job guiding our dining experience to our tastes as well as providing recommendations for the rest of our stay in the area.
Carlos was an incredible server. Super attentive, suggestions were on point and he was so welcome and accommodating. The food was delicious. Highly recommended!
My date almost paid close to $160 for take out steaks. Both were raw as hell, just peppers and salted on top, raw as hell in the middle
My husband said he wanted to take me on a date night so of course I took it upon myself to pick an upscale restaurant. I’m a nurse and wear scrubs mostly so great excuse to dress up. I found Brenner’s fairly quickly when I looked up the top restaurants in San Antonio. Well let me tell you, I’m glad we found this gem! The lighting, the greeting at the door, and the soft live music was perfect. It wasn’t overly crowded or loud. A very intimate experience for us. Our server Celeste, hands down one of the best I’ve had in a verrrrrry long time! She was so helpful with any questions we had and her recommendations were on point. She definitely knows her stuff. She was super sweet and kind and not pushy to try to upsell anything. The food, omg I cannot even begin to say how amazing it was! My husband had the bone in ribeye 22 oz and I had the 6 oz American Wagyu. Perfectly cooked and seasoned! The cognac peppercorn sauce they let us taste before ordering and it was heaven! We also had the hot stone Japanese wagyu for appetizer and what an experience! I could literally bathe in the sauces that accompanied it as well. Hands down, I will be recommending this to everyone! Great date night experience! Thank you to the staff of Brenner’s for helping make a girl feel special!

We made a reservation here for an adults night out. The reservation and seating process was easy and well done. It went downhill from there.
1. We received a drinks menu that was so sticky we ended up putting to the side and just using one between us.
2. My husband asked for a Manhattan as a cocktail before dinner. I requested the sidecar. My drink was excellent, his was almost sour. I thought maybe they had used the same shaker as mine and not washed it out completely. It took 3 times to get the waiters eye, even though we were sitting next to their POS system and he was there quite a bit, he just didn't check on us when he did and the piano was right behind us so it was difficultfor him to hear us to get his attention. I thought maybe it was just us with the drinks problem, but the table in front of ours also had a bourbon drink and I watched the guy take a drink and make a face and put it to the side so they were obviously having problems with something in their bourbon or the bartender wasn't cleaning shakers well . The table in front of us never said anything to the waiter and he was obviously never asked if he liked it because it was there at the end of the night completely full.
3. We ordered 3 courses, appetizer, salad, entree. Table was only set with 2 sets of tableware not 3. No one ever fixed that. When we got to the entree the guy warned me that my plate was hot, dropped my husband's steak and was out. It took us 4 or 5 minutes to find someone to get us flatware so we could eat while everything is cooling off. And then the waiter we flagged down just gave us an entire set up instead of just the fork and knife that was literallyon a tray next to it. Also, the glass of wine we asked for with the entree showed up when we were 1/2 done meaningit probably would have shown up after dinner if we hadn't had to wait for flatware.
The food was good. The service was not great. For this price you should get both, I would go somewhere else for a nicer experience.
Our server had at least 5 tables that I counted and none of them next to each other. It thought at first the service was off because they were a person down. As a former restaurant employee I would have let the service slip go except for the expo not looking for flatware and the really late wine and poorly made drinks.
That is just poor training. Which between the hostess with the sticky menu, server with lack of follow up, expo not looking for flatware, and poorly made drinks this seems to be a restaurant problem not just a one off one person problem.
