I loved this restaurant. But, yesterday was lackluster. Took forever to be waited on. You have to ask for and pay for chips and salsa. Check your bill, an extra salsa we didn't order was added and the server gave me attitude when we asked for it to be removed. Very slow service, because bussers and servers had time to read a book and play on their phones right in front of us!

The restaurant is next to the river and has indoor and sidewalk tables next to the river. It is very lively with tourists who walk around on foot and on boats. For Hispanics, the taste of food may seem average. The price is high for the average quality of the food. All dishes have rice and beans, both somewhat simple. The meat and chicken are somewhat more seasoned. The prices are acceptable. Sometimes it is very busy and the service is slow, which is appreciated to be able to rest while waiting.

It was just okay. It's really hit and miss, depending on what you order. We had wanted to eat here our last several trips, but they are often very busy. We went for an early lunch when they first opened though and got a table outside, which was nice. This was one of the places I remember eating at as a child when we'd go to San Antonio, so really, I think nostalgia is why it's so popular. A lot of the food didn't taste fresh. In fact, when I requested corn tortillas with my food, the server warned me that the corn ones were from a package. (Disappointing, but I appreciated being told.) However, the flour tortillas were good. Just like my entree (one of the dishes they're known for on their menu) was mediocre. However, my date's grilled shrimp were good. Service was good.

We hosted a wedding rehearsal dinner for 36 at Casa Rio and couldn't be happier. Food was delicious! The servers and bartenders were fantastic !

Dined alongside the river for dinner. Between the good food, ducks waddling by, boat tours going by, and the lights along the river, it was a lovely experience. Come here for the simple yet tasty Mexican food, stay for the atmosphere and scenery. The staff were extremely prompt and kind. We were seated immediately on a Thursday night.

Eat by the river. It’s so beautiful and pretty if it’s not too hot outside, even though the pigeons and ducks are a bit pushy lol. The food is exactly how you want Mexican food to taste. It’s in a great area to spend in whether you have children or not. The tables by the river seat 4 each and don’t leave the table unattended or the birds will steal your food!!Parking: There is a parking garage about ten minutes away from Casa Rio and the surrounding businesses around the river walk in a mall. It’s not a long walk, though, especially if you plan to spend some time on the river walk. You could easily spend a day here.Kid-friendliness: Kids are welcome in this establishment but warn them not to feed the ducks or pigeons unless you plan on inviting the ducks or pigeons to eat your lunch for you:)

Food is okay. But the environment is awesome if you sit by the river. Service is pretty fast.

This restaurant is right on the riverwalk. It was a nice location. However, the food was just typical. The queso was not real queso and was disappointing. The entrées were good portions, but again, nothing special. Our waitress was extremely busy and did not pay attention to our table.
