We ate lunch there and were greeted by a nice lady. Our meal came quickly and the food was very good. The tortillas were especially delicious. Our waitress was not great. We waited for extra tea and water and she never smiled or seemed interested in us at all.When asked for a tea to go she brought me an empty cup with no straw and walked away before I could say anything. Her tip definitely reflected her service.
They used to have one of these is San Antonio. I remembering as a little girl having a few birthday parties at El Tipico. This place is nostalgia for me and I STILL love their food.

The wait staff was not attentive and as I was exiting there was a dead roach by the doorway inside the restaurant.
Modifying precious review. I'm not coming back to this El Tipico. Service give a great atmosphere, but this restaurants service is non-existent (rude). We waited over 30 minutes the expected time and when I asked when we would get our seat we didn't even get acknowledged. I waited patiently at the bar to get a beer so I could wait, did not get so much as a quick glance. They need better staff here.

This was my Father-In-Law's favorite restaurant & after Memorial service we all met up there to eat & socialize. Immediate family ate all their usual plates. Been eating here since we were young. For sure recommend.

Second time here in 4 years , but ordered food to go and gave my debit card but come to find out they charge 3% to use your debit card!! This is ridiculous and for that I will never be back. Had I know that before hand I would of went else because the person working told me one price,but ran my card for a different amount. Thats crazy and for that I wont be back!!
