Small variety of food beans were a bit salty but food was ok.I ordered a tea and it looked foggy as if made with greasy water my husband orderded a Michelob because apparently they didnt serve Budweiser and once we received the bill noticed they charged 16.95 for a beer and $2 michelada I went to the counter to fix ticket and the first guy took off $2 excuse me sir so ur telling me the small beer was 16.95?? The guy tried to explain nd then I guess the owner just took the ticket from him rerung up the order no explanation no apology still charging 16.95 for a small michelob ultra we paid the bill but we will not be returning and wanted to give them the review they deserved a 1 star disappointed when it was pose to be San Antonio’s top 3 Mexican restaurant

Food was decent but 5.50 for a 12 oz can of beer is ridiculous, I was expecting a draft atleast.

Came here for lunch after getting a recommendation of their pozole. It was a Saturday afternoon, it was steady, but there were plenty of open tables. Ordered a Michelada, and Margarita and the pozole to share while looking over the menu. Pozole was definitely a good recommendation. It was a large bowl that was full of ingredients.
For the meal, ordered some tacos, Albondingas, and a fish plate. For desserts, ordered the Rice Pudding and Churros. Dishes were all freshly made and tasted great. The Pozole was still my favorite. Everything was authentic Mexican Food and not Tex-Mex.
Overall, good food and service.

I've been here twice now for the Mole Verde, which I haven't seen elsewhere in town. It's made from pepitas, cilantro, and chile poblano, and served over thin filets of chicken or zucchini. I had the chicken, which was tender and cooked well, and I really enjoy the tasty, slightly rich mole verde sauce for a change up. The refried beans were excellent, and the rice, though a plain style, is prepared well. The salsa that came with the complimentary chips was great, different from most places, with a decent kick. The sopa de fideos was also very good. The corn tortillas were okay but didn't seem the freshest. They have some tempting lunch deals that I would like to try in the future, and a frozen margarita lunch special for $3 that was ... solid (but certainly a great price.) Service was friendly and efficient. Food came out at a good pace. The sign outside near the entrance says, "The Mex Without the Tex," and I appreciate Guajillo's different options. I'll be back more often going forward. It's an awkward parking lot, as others have noted, but was fine during later lunchtime.

I usually come here with my wife. We have been coming here for a few years now. Everytime we come here we are greeted by the owner, he's always welcoming. The food is always very flavorful. they don't have a very extensive menu, but the items they offer are very good. The beans are really flavorful and perfectly cooked and seasoned. My wife loves the veggie aztec soup. I usually get thier chicken pozole. And then enfrijoladas( OMG)! Now I'm hungry.
Vegetarian options: They have quite a few vegitarian and vegan options here. Beens( cooked with veg oil, not pork lard) and multiple broths are vegitarian.

They charged me an automatic 20 % tip on separate tickets with another other couple we were with that included 4 adults, a 4 year old, and a TWO MONTH OLD BABY. They said it was because there were 6 people in total and that’s why charged a 20% tip, but to the other couple they charged them 20% as well for a table of “6” adults a 4 years old and a two month old baby … I guess I understand the 4 years old being treated as an adult, but the two month old baby that was being carried in someone’s arms the entire time not even taking up any space either? … that’s just ridiculous… I NEVER WILL COME BACK HERE
I have been driving past this place for years (my office used to be right down the road from it), but I never stopped in until I learned that they are serving up authentic Mexican food with a kick. That starts with their salsa which really brings a burn. It is tomatillo-based, and has a good tang and acidity along with an earthiness and some sweetness. It is close to hot on my scale and some may struggle with it. But I would order it by the pint if they sell it that way.
I asked my waiter about spicy dishes on the menu and he recommended Asado de Puerco (Pork in Spicy Pepper Sauce). That delivered tender chunks of meat that were well-cooked and flavorful and covered in a tasty sauce. The Spicy Pepper Sauce has some tomato tang and just a bit of sweetness along with a touch of earthiness. It also delivers a nice kick getting close to Medium on my scale. They also brought some fresh-made corn tortillas, and those are great for making a little taco with the meat (add some beans in there as well) or just sopping up the sauce.
My wife ordered the Bisteces en Chile Pasilla (Thin Sliced Steack in Pasilla Pepper Sauce), and my fork certainly ended up in her plate to try several bites. It had super-thin and super-tender slices of steak that were cooked just right and drenched in the dark brown sauce. It actually looks like a mole, but it is based on dried pasilla chilis, and it has a rich, earthy taste with a heat level approaching Medium.
They had plenty more to try on the menu, and I will certainly be making some return trips. The waiters were very friendly and helpful and got our food out to us quite quickly despite the fact that the place was packed. You may have to wait if you go at a busy time, but it is worth it, and I definitely enjoyed my first visit.
Parking: There is parking around back if you can't find a place in front. Don't park at the strip center next door because they warn that they may tow you.
