excellent service!! really appreciated our server Carlos's attention to detail.
We had the meatloaf stack -surprisingly good and the brownie with ice cream for dessert. Very enjoyable experience.

High Velocity, the sports bar within the JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa, is certainly impressive in terms of size and the sheer number of screens. The wraparound display is a fantastic feature, perfect for catching any sporting event. We were there for the Super Bowl, and while the atmosphere was buzzing, our experience was unfortunately marred by the seating situation. Despite being resort guests and arriving specifically for the game, we were never able to get a table even though we got there an hour plus before the game. We endured a very long wait, and while we were told we could sit at the bar with the promise of a table eventually, that never materialized. It was particularly frustrating to see multiple open tables throughout the night, only to be told they weren't available. These tables then filled up with other patrons, leaving us stuck at the bar for the entire game, which was quite uncomfortable. It's disappointing, especially since we were staying at the resort and chose High Velocity specifically for the Super Bowl. While the bar itself is visually impressive, the seating management on a busy night clearly needs improvement.

It used to offer good quality food but now we even got sick!
Their nachos were the best… can you guess by the pictures which ones used to be the high quality ones?
When restaurants try to save money to offer cheap food…. Customers can tell!
Service is still great but without good food I’d rather stay home to watch the game.

Our food took well over 30 minutes to come out. Some components of our order were wrong, but at that point we didn't want to risk another long wait.

Despite the slow food, the energy in the space was overwhelming and overstimulating. The music was so loud, I couldn't have a conversation with the people I came with.

The food was adequate, if somewhat dried-out.

I would not dine here again.

Kid-friendliness: My kid enjoyed the chicken strips! That's generally true. For any 6 year old.

The atmosphere at this venue is fantastic for watching a game. We visited during a Texas game, and the energy in the place was electric, making for an enjoyable experience. The crowd was animated and engaged, which added to the overall excitement. However, the service left something to be desired. Although the staff was clearly busy, the wait times were longer than expected, and the level of friendliness could have been improved.

My husband tried the wings and found them to be just okay—nothing particularly special about them. I opted for the nachos, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend them. They did not meet our expectations, especially given the lively environment that surrounded us.

Despite the food issues, the vibrant atmosphere and the thrill of being among fellow fans made our visit memorable. It’s a great place to soak in the excitement of the game, even if the culinary offerings don't quite match the high energy of the crowd. With a bit of improvement in service and food quality, this venue could truly become a go-to spot for game days. We hope to return in the future, perhaps to catch a different game, and see if our experience improves. Overall, it’s worth a visit for the atmosphere alone, but be prepared for some potential hiccups with service and food.

Vegetarian options: Plenty of options from Brussel sprouts to salads. You can also order things like the nachos without meat.

Parking: Valet and paid parking options. Long lines either way

Kid-friendliness: Lots of games and activities for the kids. There are golfing bays and fairly open area behind the bar.

Cool place. Got drinks which were good. Got food to-go; burger and fries. Come home and it was just a box of fries.

Awesome environment to watch sports, especially the local teams. Food pretty good, reasonably priced! Large screens, lots of TV’s and a good variety of games!

Parking: Parking is a short uphill distance to JW Marriott hotel where Sports bar is located but staff comes around continuously to pickup people to take them to the front. Very friendly, nice staff!

We had dinner at High Velocity in JW Marriott for the second time, but it was our first time actually dining in. The atmosphere is fun with a huge screen for sports. It can get a little crowded and loud especially on a Saturday night.

Our server, Valeria, recommended the elote dip, and it was a hit! Cheesy dip with Hot Cheetos sprinkled on top definitely a great starter to share. I ordered the brisket mac and cheese. It was good but a little heavy for me. Others in our group got classic burgers and they were super juicy and fresh. My kid ordered the buffalo chicken mac, but it was a bit spicy for him. I’d say classic burger was my favorite.

We were celebrating three birthdays (mine, my kid’s, and a friend’s), and they made it feel really special. We got delicious desserts. I had a brownie, and my friend had pecan pie, both with “Happy Birthday” messages beautifully written on the plates.

It did get busy so service was a little slower but Valeria really tried her best to keep things moving quickly. It was a great night and we had an awesome time celebrating!

I had a wonderful 5 day stay at the resort.. But, this restaurant is up and down on food and service.. The food was ok, not Marriott, like exceptions . The lady Manger came and made it right, which was great as we didn't get charged for a certain plate we ordered. Later on at night I went to play pool with my son. I wanted a craft beer. I had the bad opportunity to meet the bar, keep named Luke. Before any words were exchanged, he was already giving me the stink eye. So I ignored it, ordered my beer, and with his rude service, I made up my mind not to leave a tip.. So, I did tap pay to close out quickly cause other people were waiting to play pool also. I paid, and I told Luke I don't a receipt. This is when he got ugly and said in a racist tone this a resort, and we give receipts . So I need my receipt. Yes, this the bar keeps talking. So, as a brown man I took like, wow, this guy's thinks I am just visiting and can't afford to stay here. That was very racist towards me as a brown man. 1 apple spoils the bunch. One thing of the resort was that there were all walks of life having fun and being very respectful. Luke deserves to be relocated or let go cause there is no place for his type of energy in the Marriott universe.. It's sucks writing this cause u don't want to be that person. It must be told that this type of behavior should have no place in an establishment where the consumer pays top dollar at every corner of this resort. Happy Health to all..

I would not recommend this restaurant due to the service. Our waitress tried to be professional but she was very passive aggressive which was not appreciated. We did not address this issue with manager but feel it’s important to share and hopefully correct this type of service. The food was ok and came out promptly. The fries were too salty, the popcorn shrimp lacked flavor and the dipping sauce was not good. The strawberry margarita was excellent.

The service actually really fast. They get very busy at events but stay has been amazing, all the foods we’ve tried were great. Prices are expected so no complaints. (New menu changed 6/27/24) see attached

For a 4 Star hotel and prices the service food and drinks were no better than going to a local chain restaurant and fruit flies were annoying.
