Hole in the wall. tortillas could be fluffier but taste was good.

Food was waaaay off the chart delicious.
beans and rice best in town.
carne guisada flavor profile on point!

Guy serving us was kind of stoic, yet delightful! .

highly recommend. will definitely be back.

it's a hole in the wall so I didn't want to wreck the rating downgrading the atmosphere.

use the restroom before you go there unless you are tiny. it's literally the size of an aircraft bathroom.

Came for breakfast on Veterans Day. Was not acknowledged one word answers. Dropped off the plates and asked away. Older gentleman. Was visiting from Dallas. Left feeling like we didn't belong. Will never come back. I don't recommend this place.

Food and price are really good. Good enough to forgive how the place looks from the outside and lack of customer service skills

We tried to come to j and I despite the reviews . Well they proved the reviews right . The owner or whoever he is is very very rude . He rushes you when ordering and my mom asked for trips extra crispy and they were beyond soft she said excuse me Sit they are not crispy he kept telling my mom no they are I said are u serious he said yeah I am . He said I can take them back but they are crispy I told my mom just eat it mom and never again will we come back he just turned and walked away . Never came for one refill of tea . Sucks cause it seemed like somewhere I wanted to make a fav but walking in here getting treated the way we did never will I return save ur money go somewhere with great customer service .

Do not go in J&I it has Bad Food which will make you sick and the owner is rude with a bad attitude, he can't even greet you when you come in, why even be open for business with that ugly moodiness? Close down! Not recommending anything on menu.

You never know what you may stumble upon in SA. There are so many hidden little gems of Mexican restaurants and J&I Cafe is yet another one I wished I’d have found a long time ago. They’ve been around since 1989 and I can see how they’ve survived the ups and downs of the economy and the pandemic. The food was excellent, as somebody’s abuela is in the kitchen cooking up hot dishes. Don’t pass this jewel on the east side of SA up, as it’s easy to do. You won’t regret it. ¡Provecho!

This cafe had a family oriented vibe to it. It's a hidden gem in the heart of downtown San Antonio. Coffee was good and the Huevo Ranchero plate was delicious.

The outside doesn't look great but once you walk in it's a different world. The place is immaculately clean from the vents, ceiling fans, the kitchen EVERYTHING is clean. I've been in San Antonio for 3 years and this has been the best breakfast I've eaten I'll definitely return to try lunch and dinner. Gracias.
