I seen this on diners, drive-in and dives recently, im from Louisiana and I thought let's try it. We got fried catfish (I don't think it was catfish), the building and inside was old and run down (which could be a hide gem, but not here)! Red beans and rice wasn't good! Just not authentic lousiana food.

Ma Harper is a phenomenal woman! At 96 years young, she is still going strong as ever!!! Her food is excellent and the ambience of the restaurant really makes u feel like you are at mom or grandma's place! The gumbo is scrumptious! The boudin is straight from NOLA! Im not going to give away too much. You will just have to go check her out for yourself! I promise you won't regret it! Ma Harper loves to meet new people and she doesn't mind taking a pic with you!! Go check her out!!!

What a wonderful hidden gem. I wish they were open longer. Great spot for lunch. Staff is funny , friendly and super helpful. Mom & pop run place that’s very homey. Food was great. Gumbo was so flavorful. Pork chop plate was just right. Corn bread was amazing. Ma Harper’s is the spot to get gumbo.

The food was good. Expected a Lil more NOLA flavors with the red beans and rice. Limited seating and parking. Friendly staff.

We did takeout for dinner from here a few weeks ago. We did the fried pork chops entree, Fried Fish platter and Fried chicken wings with sides. Ample food portions. Food was okay. Customer service was okay. May try this place again for dine in the future.

Saw this place on the cooking show and stopped in while visiting my sister. Ma harper is an awesome lady and the food is awesome. She definitely lives up to the hype. We tried catfish (for the first time) and it was delicious. We had the gumbo which was also delicious. Red beans and rice delicious. Ma harper personality will have you running back for some granny love and attention with a good meal

We loved the gumbo, corn bread and bread pudding. We also loved the story, the atmosphere, and seeing all of the Creole cooking trophies dating back at least 30 years. The staff was really nice and friendly.
But . . .
We caught them on a bad service afternoon, which happens at any restaurant. There were obvious communication issues between the front of the house and the back of the house. After an hour of waiting, and other tables receiving the same items we ordered but in half the time, we decided to leave. Thankfully we were persuaded to stay.
One person mentioned one of the gumbo's would be comped but once again there was a communication problem and we were charged for both. Worth it.
Ma Harper believes in second chances and we'll be back for another try at the gumbo and shrimp or that fried pork chop the other table was eating looked great. And the bread pudding was so good we're thinking the peach cobbler has to be perfect.
