I seen this on diners, drive-in and dives recently, im from Louisiana and I thought let's try it. We got fried catfish (I don't think it was catfish), the building and inside was old and run down (which could be a hide gem, but not here)! Red beans and rice wasn't good! Just not authentic lousiana food.
Ma Harper is a phenomenal woman! At 96 years young, she is still going strong as ever!!! Her food is excellent and the ambience of the restaurant really makes u feel like you are at mom or grandma's place! The gumbo is scrumptious! The boudin is straight from NOLA! Im not going to give away too much. You will just have to go check her out for yourself! I promise you won't regret it! Ma Harper loves to meet new people and she doesn't mind taking a pic with you!!...
What a wonderful hidden gem. I wish they were open longer. Great spot for lunch. Staff is funny , friendly and super helpful. Mom & pop run place that’s very homey. Food was great. Gumbo was so flavorful. Pork chop plate was just right. Corn bread was amazing. Ma Harper’s is the spot to get gumbo.
