Honestly out of all the restaurants we've eaten, even the 5 star restaurants, Momma Luv's had THE BEST!!! Terrell's customer service was TOP NOTCH!!! And to top it off, the FOOD WAS DELICIOUS!!! I had Momma's Special with Jerk Chicken, Beans & Rice & Cabbage. My hubby had the Fried Catfish, Shrimp & fries. It all came out hot and sooo flavorful! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! Now I am ready to go home & hibernate! DEFINITELY GOING BACK!

Waited 40 minutes longer than anticipated. However, the food was delicious and worth the wait. Got the jerk chicken, rice & peas, greens, mac n cheese and plantains. The atmosphere was plain, no music or anything playing but I didn't go for the atmosphere. The guy at the register was very polite and stayed on the kitchen staff until the orders came out. Kept us updated on the order. Again,delicious food! Everything was on point!

This is that spot man, very welcoming atmosphere, every plate is packed with flavor and served with upmost service, place is something special, definitely will be returning!

We usually have great experiences here, which is why this visit was so disappointing.

We placed a pickup order that was estimated to be ready at 6:05 PM. Since we live about 45 minutes away, we left with plenty of time, expecting the food to be fresh and ready when we arrived.

When my partner got there, he was told the order needed another 15 minutes, which was completely understandable. We came back about 20 minutes later, and instead of receiving our food, he was told, “You’re going to need to drop this order because we have a busy in-house crowd that we need to prioritize.” The employee assumed he was an Uber Eats driver, and he had to explain that we were the customers picking up our own order.

That was incredibly frustrating. No one paid enough attention to realize our order was a customer pickup, and because of that, it was pushed to the bottom of the priority list. Orders should be prepared based on when they are placed, not based on whether someone mistakenly assumes they’re for delivery.

The woman at the front did apologize and admitted that if they had known we were a pickup order and not Uber Eats, our food would have been made on time. While I appreciated the apology, it also confirmed that our order was delayed simply because of an incorrect assumption.

We ended up waiting another five minutes because the seafood needed more time to cook. When my partner was about to go back inside to check on it, he was told to stay in the car because they would bring the food out.

Overall, I’m very disappointed. We drove 45 minutes for this restaurant, only to have our order deprioritized due to a misunderstanding that should never have happened. We have always enjoyed the food here, but this experience has made us reconsider coming back for pickup—or ordering from here at all. If you plan to order during a busy time, be aware that pickup orders may not be handled as expected.

On a girls' trip from DFW, we stopped here for lunch before heading to Fredericksburg, and it did not disappoint! I had the stew chicken, while my friends ordered the oxtails and a fried seafood dish. Every meal was absolutely delicious, and the staff made us feel so welcome with their friendly service. If I find myself back in San Antonio, this spot will definitely be on my list for a return visit.

Flavor explosion! We had fried shrimp and oxtails which were delicious. The sides of collards, sweet cornbread and rice and black beans were worthy of a starring role on our plates and not just a “side” dish. The friendliest owners are passionate about their food and it shows in their food.

Great place, great food, great people. My husband first came to Mama Luv’s with a friend and they both loved the food and atmosphere. We decided to stop by today and I can understand why he was eager to come back. I tried the catfish plate with wings and it was delicious. The staff is wonderful (very friendly and funny). We can’t wait to come back. Definitely recommend :)

Food was delicious, I came back twice the same day.. first time time I had fried shrimp rice, peas, and sweet potatoe casserole with jerk sauce on my rice; the second time I ate there I had jerk chicken, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoe casserole.. super delicious. The thing that made my experience so wonderful was: Black Owned, Wonderful Customer Service, and The Menu.

Food is really good. I highly recommend the Stew Chicken and Curry Chicken! Also great, friendly customer service
