I watched Texas Eats when they reviewed this restaurant showing the fried chicken, smothered meatloaf & smothered steak. Wanted to visit because the smothered steak sounded good. Went online to search Mr & Mrs G’s but they have no website but Google listed the restaurant & after reviewing the menu, I didn’t see the smothered steak? so I called & the lady said smothered steaks only on Thursdays today being Saturday. I figured I go anyway & get the smothered...
Just forget what you're planning for lunch and get over here. I randomly passed this place while running errands on a very hungry stomach and, let me tell you, this is a hit! The fried chicken wowed me from the very first bite, the cornbread is good, the rice woth gravy was fantastic, and the Mac and cheese was everything I expected. I tore into my delicious meal too quickly to stop and take a decent photo! They make their own vinegar hot sauce from peppers that Mr. G pickled...
You want good and simple food that actually tastes homemade? This is the place. These folks are kind and the quality is present in everything they make. The green beans are no joke and may make even picky eaters finish a bowl.
