All around horrible experience. Waitress was the rudest I have ever encountered in a restaurant anywhere. AC was not working. Drinks were served in bottles and plastic cups because they were “too busy” which was not the case at all. Food was mediocre at best. Never will return again.

We had a 6:30pm reservation for a Wednesday night at the beginning of February so clearly we walked in knowing it was going to be busy during this hot day of the week and in peak season for tourism.....the restaurant had one other table occupied and two people sitting at the bar.The restaurant has a very limited menu and everything is very very pricey. I opted for the $39 filet mignon. The rest of our party went for fish options. The waitress was nice and as a result of the restaurant being so 'busy' we had two staff members waiting on us. Drinks were prompt; food not so much. We waited an hour and forty minutes for the food. When someone asked about the wait time they wait staff said that they were very busy. (No one else had come into the restaurant, and the only other table occupied was being used by a young lady with three wines glasses and a computer in front of her - clearly working on the next great romance novel). When the food finally came the fish dishes looked beautiful and everyone said tasted wonderful and really good (SO IF YOU DO NOT HEED THE ADVICE OF THIS REVIEW AND GO HERE - EAT THE FISH). My filet mignon can best be described as a hockey puck sized roast beef that was had on top three sprigs of asparagus on top of the restaurant's augratin potatoes. The filet mignon which was ordered medium done was cooked to well done/gristle and had the consistency of a roast. I tied not to be too critical because it is not like Texas is known for their steaks. The asparagus was good. The potatoes were another story. This pile at the bottom of the plate was covered in an odd cheese and when you cut into it with your fork (it was quite rigid) the potatoes were absent and replaced by layers of unmelted cheddar cheese cemented together by a layer of white unknown that tasted like spoiled cheese curds. This restaurant did what leading scientists never imagine could be done - smothered something in cheese and made it taste like sh*t - this unto itself may warrant a visit because I still cannot fathom how it was possibly done. The staff was nice although at first they said they had no manager when asked to see one and used the excuse of how busy they were for the slow service (No one else had come in at this point) They graciously accommodated us, and when bills were paid left us sitting there for another twenty minutes before bringing us change. The only positive is the restaurant does give an authentic Alamo experience, because as you are trapped inside the walls of the restaurant at the mercy of another, you cannot help but think about the Alamo defenders who died at the end of their wait a mere 50 feet away from where you sit.If you decide to go to this restaurant I encourage you to get the fish plates and if the young lady with the three wines and computer has finished her novel; I suggest you take that along as well, for you are in for a long wait.

Overall food experience was fair. But nowhere at the time that we made the reservation did we know that it was Buffet style. It was disappointing for our party of eight. Our seating area was awkward, as they placed us out in the lobby for a party of eight they said could not accommodate? Odd. Imagine walking back and forth in your evening gown high heels to the open lobby area with your food. Our reservation had been made with ample time, informative of the party size, so this did not make sense. Never did I see that we could not have been accommodated in the restaurant as we were 1st party there..

Restaurant didn't have our reservations and the service was slow as well as the restaurant. Our order arrived with the salad, which was thimble sized. The meal was slightly warm and nothing as to what we ordered. I will never go back.

Overall it was a little pricey. Not very crowded for Christmas brunch. Had no wait time getting seated other than waiting to check in. Service was good. Some of the food items were cold. Very limited selection. As I said earlier it was a little pricey for the most part.

5 pc of thin small prime rib about a number 2 on a slicer - 6 poached shrimp - 4 piece of cheese slices - a slice of french toast and 2 glasses of soda - My wife had glass of wine and some dry salmon plus a salad and we split some chocolate cake 64.95ea Plus an unstated 25 dollar gratuity + glass of wine Could have had better for the cost - From the head count they really raked in the money - On the plus side It was a wonderful time spent with my beautiful wife regardless of the cost or food which is the only thing that matters .

After theatre dinner, 7 pm. Bar with high tops and booths setting. Nice setting and table was ready ahead of time. No waitress appeared so tried to order drinks from the bar just a step away. Was told must order from table? Young man, Danny was very helpful when he arrived but drink order was incorrect. We just kept them due to the wait. Only bar patrons, restaurant was empty. $52 steak was good. Caesar salad ordered, regular salad delivered with spicy salsa dressing? They did bring another. Served 2 plates with 1 silverware. Another wait. Eh, not impressed. Maybe that's why it was the only RSVP we could get in the area. With advanced planning, too many better options downtown.

The Food was superb, an excellent Buffet. Service was excellent, but understaffed. The Oro room was a bit small for this event, but OK. The noise level was fine, but the lighting was poor. The price of the buffet was perfectly acceptable considering the excellent quality of the food and presentation.

The Oro Restaurant at the Emily Morgan Hotel is a great spot to eat regardless if you're a out-of-towner, a guest, or a San Antonio local. Right across the Alamo, it is one of our City's best kept secrets. Their buffets are outstanding with much variety at a cost that won't give you sticker shock. My family and I had our Thanksgiving meal there and it exceeded our expectations 1,000%. It was scrumptious. Give it a try!

$189.25 for two adults. We did have two mimosas. We ate at 1pm. Fabulous location, just across the street from the Alamo. Small but adequate buffet. Seafood section gets a thumbs up. Certainly the oysters were huge and plentiful. Bagel station and salad station were fairly well picked over. The meat dishes were well stocked and restocked and according to the carnivore, tasty. Desert station was disappointing. Featuring what looks like a store bought carrot cake and store bought pecan and pumpkin pies. There were a few small epenadas with mystery fillings and some small cheese-cake bites. I knew when I booked that there were not many choices for vegetarians, so I am trying not to let the color the review. But, with the lack of nice deserts, lack of chocolate and lack of a non-meat main it was disappointing. I asked the carnivore if he would go back. He said yes. I asked him how much he thought it cost and he said $50 pp? I told him the actual cost and he gave a resounding no. I'm leaving the review as "yes" because I'm sure the Oro is lovely on a regular day/night. But for this buffet, the answer would be no.

Poor experience overall. Nearly empty restaurant at 7 pm with a major conference in town. Loaded tots were cold. Had to ask twice for a drink refill. Very low value for the price paid >$50 for one person.

Service was a bit slow and ribs were cold on the inside. This was after my first choice of ribeye steak was not available because they were out. They corrected the issue and second plate of ribs were hot. It could have been because of a busy night (Halloween). Overall hotel was nice cool haunted guided tour and ghosts didn't keep their hands to themselves ?.

The food was ok, too much pepper on the steak too the point it was all you could taste. Braised short rib was amazing though. The server was a bit of a turn-off, very strange attitude. Be careful if they are also serving for a large group in the hotel library as you become second rate citizens in the restaurant area. Would try again to see if any better.

My 3 min experience is here : I entered the restaurant around 20:15, stood next to the sign saying wait to be seated watching two people (cashiers/waiters?!) trying to figure out something on the cashier machine. Even though the restaurant was almost empty (1 table with one customer and 3 people at the bar) nobody paid attention to my presence for 3 min and I turned around and left. Sorry Google, but I cannot rate the food as I did not taste it, and if I had an opportunity to put 0 stars for service and atmosphere I definitely would.
