I came from Austin to visit my son and I had to stop here. Austin has no good barbacoa spots. This place is really really good. Pico was good and the tamales were okay. I will definitely come back . I love this city and their food.

Barbacoa was really really good, the tamales not so much. But it's called pepes barbacoa NOT pepes tamales. Definitely recommend the barbacoa.

Tamales were very greasing and small Doesn’t taste as good as it seems. I need to stop listening to TikTok. These are some of the worst tamales.

The barbacoa was as good as expected, but the tortillas were a bit dry

I grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, so I have pretty high standards when it comes to barbacoa. This was easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The flavor was incredible, and unlike a lot of places, it wasn’t dripping with grease. Just a heads up, get there early because it goes fast, and bring cash. It was so good I ended up eating an entire pound by myself in one sitting.

I could see why this place has a high score. This is one of the best places in along time to get good tasting barbacoa and tamales from. Tried it this morning, my wife and I were very impressed. It was very good. Will go back again, the problem with some spots is that they are not consistent. We hope this place is, it is must try.

The Barbacoa I bought was the all meat 1 pound with an avocado. I paid a total of $22.00 even . The Barbacoa was descent and the flavor was pretty good . Not to salty but not bland either. Only thing in my opinion and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because I think the Barbacoa got dried out on them and they just tried to get it moist again. All in all if I can't find BBQ like Today cause Magy's was closed cause they were on vacation I would go back again to Pepes.

I love pepes but when did they start charging $38 dollars for just a lb of barbocoa no tortillas no salsa just the lb? Im disappointed 😞 I love it there.
