Coffeeshop hopping today with a friend. (So many to peruse in SA!) Poetic warmed our hearts on all fronts - friendly people, welcoming atmosphere, well balanced cup of Guatemalan. True Southtown gem.

Best coffee in town, most of the large chain’s coffee taste like chemicals till I tried this place real coffee minus the chemicals and pesticides

Great atmosphere, great coffee, great baristas as well. Had an issue with my coffee (beans needed changed) and they remade it for free!!

The baristas here are super friendly! The barista on register was so nice and helped guide me through the menu as I’d never been here before. The kolache I loved and the cortado was amazing too. I also tried the blueberry matcha because I love matcha, also super good! Super fast service! Definitely will be back!

It’s decent coffee. I don’t understand why they’re charging $1 for alternative milk. They are the same price if you’re buying nice quality dairy milk. Wish it wasn’t so expensive.
Finally need to comment on the atrocious vibes here. I own a home nearby and have given this place chance after chance, and every single time I enter this shop I feel weird. The baristas do not greet you. The energy is incessantly pretentious. They cannot even be bothered to crack a smile. I genuinely have questioned if it is just me and some type of energy I am putting off, but I go in with a smile and a greeting every time and am met with dead air.
I even tried coming in to study one day and literally had to leave because my anxiety was driving me nuts from the weird stares from staff, despite me not really being the type of person to notice or care about that sort of thing.
Not to mention, the iced lattes are never not grainy. I will accept a pretentious and grumpy GOOD barista, not a shitty one.
I’ve also had plenty of instances where I placed an online order that showed as in stock, only to arrive and find out it wasn’t. More than once this has ruined my breakfast plans before work and forced me to scramble and figure something else out.
The reviews seem to be largely from tourists who likely won’t notice these things from a single visit. As someone who lives nearby and has tried repeatedly to give this place a chance given how cute it is inside, not to mention they carry scratch kitchen goods, it’s just not my scene. That’s all.

I always come here to read and relax, some of the most consistently good coffee. One of the best in san antonio for sure.

Favorite coffee place. All of their drinks are great. The only downside is that the food is a little expensive but it’s still great food.
