Disappointing Transition: J. Alexander's Misses the MarkAs a longtime patron of Redland, I was eager to experience the transition to J. Alexander's. Unfortunately, my recent visit left much to be desired. I opted for a classic choice, the hamburger, only to receive it raw. Though promptly replaced, the burger lacked the signature flair and personality expected from J. Alexander's.While the customer service at the bar was commendable, the overall experience fell short of representing the J. Alexander's brand. With hopes for improvement, I look forward to seeing the restaurant reach its full potential in the future.

Just a miss for the evening. Had other more positive experiences at the quarry location. Recommended to guests from out of town to meet for the night and food was cold out of 3 dishes. Solution was a comped carrot cake.Sent food back one dish still cold.Mediocre experience.Spent most of the night waiting for the turn around & just left with a average experience.I know our guests wont be back.

The double cheesburger here is amazing. Unfortunately, you can only get it at this location.

This is not just food, it is J. Alexander's. That means all food cooked well and served warm/hot and delicious.I took some family there tonight and I said, honestly, "If your food isn't a solid 9/10, then it's not to their standards". I urge you to give this a try and send anything back if it's not a 9/10 or better. I bet you won't return any food!

We just had a meal tonight and the steak was under cooked so the waiter who agreed took the steak back. When it came back it had been put on the grill and reheated and was served that way. Quite shocking ! What happened to you??

Well this was our first time coming to this restaurant and it will be our last time coming I was so disappointed in the food quality my wife ordered the prim rib and got a side of asparagus grilled I got the redfish my wife steak was very bland no taste to it at all and the asparagus were full of oil the redfish also was very bland I got side of grilled shrimp and found that the shrimp was not properly clean, which disgusted me I lost my appetite at that point I sent 180$ on nothing but trash i will never come back to this place again you would think they would have someone checking the food as it came out I highly recommend you go to long star steakhouse I would not even recommend my grandma to this place it’s over rated and over priced I don’t mined playing for food as long as it’s good but it was not even close

Food was great, staff was doing an amazing job considering the truly terrible situation they were in. Big shout out to our server Gavin, the staff at the bar, and the hostesses especially. The one star review is for the owner or manager who thought it was ok to massively overbook the restaurant on Valentine's Day. We waited for an hour in the lobby, despite having a reservation, and that lobby was PACKED with people in the same situation. That was so unfair to everyone who planned ahead and tried to have a special night out, and even worse for the staff that we watched getting berated by upset guests. I probably wouldn't have left this review if it hadn't been mentioned to us that the owner or manager intentionally allowed more than the usual amount of reservations because he's "competitive." I have a feeling he wasn't there dealing with the result, and his team deserves better.

Don't EVER expect the reservation to mean anything. They book tables as if this was a discount airline. I arrived 15 minutes early, was told 25 minutes. 70 minutes later.... still

I've never written a review while sitting in a restaurant... but save your money and go somewhere else. It saddens me to say this, especially since we're celebrating 2 birthdays tonight, and changed our reservation from another location and the very last minute due to a recommendation of high praise.Drinks, great.Salad, amazing.Broccoli, bland.Mac & cheese, awful and under-seasoned.Rib eye and fish, under seasoned... Steaks not cooked to our specifications (med-well was rare; well, was med).Disappointed in this $500+ meal. Terrible! Awful! Cook your own steak at home!

I liked this place when it was Redland grill this was my first time back when they changed the name and it was awful. Tastes like hospital food chicken and our sever left us without water for long periods of time. Definitely will not be returning could’ve got a better steak at and chain steakhouse.

"Post Holiday Shenanigans"This year my company decided to expand our reach in San Antonio and ventured a little further out for our Post Holiday Meal. After a few other site visits, I decided to request this venue because of the size of the upper area that could house around 60 plus guests. I conducted a site visit of the venue and was greeted by the hostess station and spoke with the manager Archie. He gave me a walkthrough of the space and after a few phone calls back and forth, and a secured reservation, we arrived on Saturday evening for our event. The cold outside had us huddling around the bar, while more guests arrived, but the bartender had the spirits flowing to get our party started. I highly recommend the strawberry virgin mojito. When about 15 guests were in the bar area, the hostess led us to our area, where the menus were laid out, candles were lit and the lights were dimmed to set the mood. The Jazz music in the background was lowered just enough for light conversations among friends. The staff was SPECTACULAR and I'd like to highlight the teamwork and leadership of Marlysa, Alicia, Nya and Christopher. They were ready and willing to assist our larger party and had drinks out within minutes. Because of the interstate construction, many of our party goers were running behind, so we ordered chips for the tables. While I understand inflation, we all agreed that $15 for two handful of chips was a bit much, but enjoyed the fresh tomato salsa and queso. The guests started arriving and the food orders were received in a quick and orderly fashion. Our wait staff stayed near and ensured all guests were taken care of and the night was running smoothly. My boyfriend and I ordered the New York Steak and Macaroni and Cheese, as well as, the Barbecue Baby Back Ribs with the orzo and wild rice and fries. While orders came out correctly, my fries were cold, and I did get a few complaints about inaccurate temperatures on the steaks. ( menu stated they would try to cook as close to customer's request) We knew that a larger party would be a bit hard and I applaud the chefs in the kitchen for putting out the orders accurately and quickly.I had to move the star power down one because of the comments about the food, but all in all, I surveyed laughter, an attentive staff and food disappearing off of plates. My ribs were delicious and I was pleased with my sides and my babe enjoyed his meal. All in all, we had a terrific event. The restaurant was packed and still pumped out food to new arriving guests. Highly recommended, just know for a group of 40+ it's going to be a pretty penny and Archie your staff were wonderful! The Culture of teamwork was displayed all night :)Ms. Islandgal29412
