Wow! Impressive property! We feel like royalty and everything has really exceeded our expectations! The rooms are pristine. The staff is so personable and professional. The spa is amazing and I had an amazing massage. We will be here all week and I am looking forward to another massage with my husband joining me next time. We have found our new favorite spot to stay while in town!

As it turns out... I don't post many reviews on Trip Advisor.. and aside from a review for a tour guide in Paris (Dec 2022), my last review was a detailed write up on JW Marriott Hill Country in July 2018! Ironically, this review is almost exactly 5 years apart from our last family trip to JW Hill Country (my wife+kids stayed here in Spring 2022 for something without me). A very short notice (approx 10 days) and 2 night stay -- last minute end of Summer getaway before school starts and breaking up the drive back to DFW from a swim meet. Overall - it was a good stay -- services and property are nice and look like they may have been updated since 2018 (my last stay). Food - Cibolo Moon and Rivertop Poolside lunch were excellent as always. Extra shoutout to Angelo (server @ Cibolo Moon) and Abby (server covering beach pool area for Rivertop). They were both AMAZING. Ili at the Front Desk was great also during our check in. River Bluff - crowded but a good time; lifeguard staff is great and attentive. Definitely a more fun experience with kids being a touch older now (both over 7) Activities - we enjoyed poolside movie night, some of the kid activities and of course the S'mores! Miscellaneous - I was surprised how much more smoking I noticed on property. At least 3 different occasions my family saw a guest smoking and/or smelled cigarette smoke at the River Bluffs. But then we didn't want to spend time on our walk out balcony due to the really strong smell of cigars... which were a bummer. BUT -- I actually felt compelled to write this review because our King bed was unfortunately the most uncomfortable bed I've ever had in ANY hotel. And I'm generally not picky for bedding -- I'm typically someone who can sleep on flat, hard ground surfaces. I had to ask my wife if it were just me -- she commented on being surprised how uncomfortable the bed was also. I'm certain we will be back again (our kids love the property), but man, I hope sure hope the beds get better (unless it was just our room...), and maybe have separate smoking areas....

Booked a last minute non/suite stay for $922 at 11pm at the front desk. That was 60 minutes before the room would have been a total loss for the hotel. Before I swiped swiped my card at the front desk I request med the front desk person to check for the availability of a 4pm checkout. If the 4pm checkout was not available I wanted to book a second night. Both options were available per the front desk person. I chose a one night stay with 4pm checkout and the front desk person said it was setup in the system and it was guaranteed because I am a Titanium member. I swiped my card and went to my room to get some sleep. I woke up at 9:30 a.m in the morning with a notification from the front desk that my 4pm checkout could not be honored because they sold the second night after I checked-in. After paying $922 for 8 hours sleep in king bed non-suite room I only had 1.5 hours to check out. Marriott written policy states that a 4pm checkout that is guaranteed when it is given to a Titanium guest. But this JW Marriott says reneging/rescinding a 4pm checkout is allowed if the extra day is sold after a customer was granted a 4pm checkout. This was stated to me with the knowledge the property was 60 minutes from a 100% loss on the room before I bought the room. Thus is the low level of empathy that you are dealing with at this JW Marriott property. Book at your own risk

I want to start off by saying the water park was a lot of fun and the staff on property are all really great and helpful. However, with that being said this just didn’t feel like a JW property. One of our biggest complaints was the food. We went to a couple of their restaurants on the first day and the food was just not good at all. It was so bad that we just decided we’ll have to leave to get food for the rest of the trip and with the JW name I expected the food to be better. The only good meal on property was their breakfast buffet which was really good! It was a shame the rest of the food didn’t match. The hotel property is really nice and our room was clean and comfortable. Also, just a note to those who are Marriott Bonvoy Elite Platinum or Titanium they do not offer a club level lounge if this is something you look forward to. Overall it was still a nice stay and we would love to come back but aren’t sure we liked leaving the hotel for food when we wanted to spend are whole time on the property.

This was the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. When we arrived to our room, there was hair all over the floor in the bathroom and a hairball in the hallway. There was mold all around the door of the shower, a box of wet tissues, stains on the furniture and multiple bugs in the bedroom (alive and dead). We called the front desk to let them know the condition of the room and they said they would have the cleaning crew come up to clean while we were at dinner.. that never happened. For daily cleaning the only thing they did was make the bed and replace towels. On our second day, we stopped at the front desk to again request the room to be cleaned.. they assured us they would send the cleaning crew. They again did not show up and we never received any follow up communication regarding this. We overall were pretty grossed out by the condition of the room and would not stay here again. The water park is fun but the water is not very clean, a lot of trash, debris and bugs in the water. Incredibly disappointing for a JW Marriot Hotel.

We have now stayed at this property twice…March 2023 and July 2023. Loved, loved, loved both stays. It is the perfect mix of activity and relaxation. The water slides and pools are really great! Several excellent dining options on site. Definitely plan on visiting the spa…It is so worth it. We were also really impressed at how well the resort adapted for the busy holiday weekend. Additional dining options and family activities helped keep wait times low. Check the daily schedule to make sure you get to enjoy all the awesome activities like the on-site Build-A-Bear, wildlife presentations (we met a sloth!!!), and the rubber duck race in the lazy river.

Great visit to JW San Antonio Hill Country over the pre Independence Day holiday. It’s our 10-12th visit over the past 10 years and it still doesn’t disappoint! Pools were hoppin’ with activity’s, new bar service during Flick n float was a nice touch this year. Service at the pool from Abby, Hannah, Trinity and Amos, was on point, fast and friendly. New food truck had awesome Taco’s and nachos. SMores at the fire pit after 2 smoked beef ribs, and several pounds of Smoked Turkey, brisket and sausage was delightful, but over the top… I way too full. Crashed out in our quiet cool room, woke up refreshed and ready for and omelette cooked just right from Albert and new (to hotel) Sous Chef James to do it all over again. Please never change the oak tree covered area at entrance to slide for lazy river. It’s an awesome, relaxing retreat from the sun and hustle of the main pool. All in all, great weekend! Shout out to Banquet Chef Darren and Leslie for always being a friendly face that remembers me and the family. You’re both amazingly awesome and you have no idea how welcome you make us feel. I for sure miss seeing Reed this year. Always a great time to chat with him about all the new things going on in and out of the resort. Thanks Sous Chef Matt, Leslie and team for the Nacho’s! Adam and Nico at Cibolo provided great service for 8 hungry guests. Thanks to all the Staff for making our stay memorable!

Highly recommend this resort! I must say, I read some of the recent negative reviews and was ready for a bad experience but I have nothing but positive things to say about this resort. The customer service was excellent. The grounds are well kept and the room was clean. They have so many activities for your kids and also have plenty of fun things to do for adults. Also, big shout out to their housekeeping and Loss Prevention Department. I've left items in the room like a cell phone charger and never been able to get it back. This stay, we accidentally left our baby monitor in the room after we checked out. I didn't realize it until I got back to Dallas about 6 hours later. I called the hotel, they went and found the housekeeper who cleaned the room. She had turned in the monitor and they are going to ship it to me this week. I really appreciate the level of service we got and would definitely come back!

This hotel is the most mediocre experience. The water slide/pool area is very middle of the road. Certainly not anything special. The restaurants are many but actual food options are few and healthy options even fewer. At the pool you need to chase after servers once you're ready to check out and not all orders are together even when it's attached to your room number which makes no sense. At the pool they give you frozen drinks with paper straws. I'll leave that up to you to figure out the result of that.... 18 Oaks was excellent though. Food service and ambience. I'd go back to that restaurant. The rooms are abismal. Possibly the dirtiest I've ever stayed in. There were a box of soaking wet tissues and a full garbage that greeted us upon checking in to our room. On our second day our towels hadn't been changed nor had our room services dishes been removed. If the maids are expecting a tip I'm not sure what for. On the last day we were checked out by the hotel prematurely. None of the restaurants or pool area is staffed to accommodate the amount of people. Expect to wait for everything from check in to getting your bill at the end of a meal. At breakfast buffet our server charged us for dinner buffet and told us it was same price. Luckily there was a menu sitting next to me where I pointed out he was lying to me. For a JW Marriott this is not what I expect. Growing up I stayed at Holiday Inns that felt more luxurious. My kids seemed to enjoy themselves but also I don't necessarily see them asking to come back. I'd say it's a one and done....stay one night....or better yet, come for the day and stash it in your memory bank.

Welcome to my unhinged and completely true review. The resort was itself was quite enjoyable and except 2 annoying situations. If you can avoid valet theft and a ghost, it should be a decent stay. I’m being completely serious. On July 3 almost around 11 pm, we heard a heavy knock. We immediately went to the door, no one. Again a second heavy knock and we rushed to the door - no one again. Our dogs kept swirling around the door growling. The next morning I let reception know and he essentially said, the hotel grounds are very old and there’s a lot of activities in the lobby (aka booking flying off shelf by itself) and most likely that was a ghost. Great. Lol Secondly, I came home and immediately notice that my expensive $500 glasses were stolen by valet. I did not bring them into the hotel because they are my designated driving glasses kept in the compartment. I reported and no resolution. Would I come back? Probably not, there’s nothing to do in San Antonio anyway - it’s a wasteland. The resort itself is nice, but I’d try Lost Pines next time.

Staff at reception was great. Easy checkin and building employees friendly. In the morning we were woken up at 7:30 as a full construction crew was breaking down a golf grandstand. There had been a golf tournament there. So loud construction at 7:30 in the morning. We had to change rooms. When I brought this up to the manager, he had no idea, this was going on. And did not write back as to when it would be finished. We had to switch rooms. In the new room when we went out side to our patio my son was attacked by fire ants. Once again, Manager said he had no idea that Fire ants we’re on premises at all. Safety team did great job. Sent pictures of nests to manager, no response, no discount on room (safety team said they would get one for me from Manager. Lucky I’m not suing them.). First room did not have a safe. Building staff was in my room for 10 minutes. Looking for a safe that was not there. We needed a cot brought in. The mattress wasn’t even a mattress. It was like a cheap boxspring. Asked the manager if it ever felt the cot mattresses and he said no. Lots of stuff like this overlooked . Only one tennis court there. And quite a Walk to get there. And they cannot tell you if somebody is on it or not. All it would take would be a small camera on the tennis court that they could view from the front desk. A very minimal investment. Once again, just small details that management is missing here. My patio was pretty filthy. Bird p*** all over the chairs. Empty seltzer cans. Cleaning staff should also clean outside room. Plenty of chairs at the pool was a good thing but they play the same dozen songs on loop over and over again. Once again sent Manager an email about that with no response. Overall an average Marriott , a very friendly and helpful support. Staff with management just not hands on and paying attention to details.

I was really impressed by my stay at the JW Marriott in San Antonio. It is a massive hotel that is immaculate. The service is also top notch. A big reason I booked here was to play some golf at the attached courses. If you're coming for golf, this is certainly a convenient option. There is also a beautiful waterpark that I unfortunately didn't get to use due to the bad weather. It's a fairly pricey option, but I'd definitely return and highly recommend the JW Marriott San Antonio. Thank you to the staff for Ana amazing few days.

This is what a JWM property should be. Hotel and grounds were immaculate. The pool and lazy river were relaxing enough to spend the entire afternoon there. Housekeeping did an exceptional job. Cibolo Moon for dinner and drinks was special also.
