We were visiting SAT and saw the positive Google reviews so we ordered 3 meals, and, while the proprietor was delightful and the prices were affordable, the overall experience was disappointing. The catfish was fried well, and the cornbread was a highlight. However, the mac and cheese, made with rotini pasta and mozzarella, was unappetizing and bland. The yams were dry and hard, and the menu was quite limited. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

Their food was delicious! I just wanted to Thank the owner for his generosity when he realized that we didn't have enough cash to pay our meals. This was our first time there and we didn't know that they didn't take credit card of any kind. My husband ended up leaving to find an ATM to pay the difference even though they were trying to bless us! A must try at least once

The Kool-Aid was on point! Food was temperature hot. We all had fried catfish that was scrumptious. Hubby had fried wings, too which were tasty and perfectly breaded. Broccoli rice casserole, dirty rice and greens were all delicious. My 92 year old Mom said it was the best catfish she’s had lately. Good job, Melvin and we’ll be back!

The food was excellent! I had the fish and wings combo; delicious is the only way I can describe it. The Kool-Aid reminds me of the days of old. I strongly recommend taking the drive out there.

I am from Alabama and I was looking for some soul food to remind me of home and I will say I was satisfied. Customer service was Amazing! Environment was chill and relaxed. Will be back. I had the meatloaf, fried chicken wings, mac and cheese, dirty rice and 2 cornbreads!! Nothing was left over lol!! Great portions! $ Worth! Must try!
