Great downtown bar with plenty of parking (not always easy to find downtown SA). Laid back ambiance, live music some nights, Karaoke other nights.

29 Dec 2023 This used to be called the St. Joseph's Society Hall or something close. We had our 25th wedding anniversary at this venue. That was 20 years ago. They still do events in the hall area. Now it's touted as Southtown Joe's, a cute little bar with pool tables, darts, electronic games and several TVs to watch sports. Our bartender Sondra was great. Personable, on point. There is karaoke Fridays at 8pm. Got off on a late start today, though. Oh well. It turned out OK. Go there.

For a dive bar a little on the pricey side, it's not on the river walk or in the pearl, prices should reflect as so. Too bright inside...a dimly lit bar is always better. Went to watch the Spurs game and had to request the game to be put on....they said okay and it never got put on. Good concept for a little neighborhood bar but bad execution so far. Weird vibe overall. Best part was the free parking and the Karoke DJ...she was cool.

Very pleasant place to chill. Great DJ w. Karaoke. Everything was nice. But the waitress spends too much time talking to her friends & customers waiting to be served. Otherwise loved it.

This is a revamped hole in the wall from back in the day that was formally St. Joe's. Some of the areas in here have been updated. The foyer now has a little sitting area when you walk in the facility. More tables were set up than previously once was. An area was opened up where there are pool tables and a couple of electronic dart boards. It was a little warm in the pool/dart room. There was a portable A/C unit but it was barely keeping things cool in this South Texas heat. There is a jukebox in there to put on music, something that wasn't there before. The bar area is pretty much the same, dimly lit with the red bar stools. The bar stool with "Norm" doesn't seem to be there. I've drank many beers there in the past, being that I did not work too far from there. They now serve liquor now, which they previously didn't, and you were able to bring bottles of liquor and buy the soda to make your own drinks. There is still a hall there, which I believe you can still rent. It seems it is now catering to a younger crowd since more condos and apartments are being built downtown. I hope it stays open since it is a nice little hidden gem.

It was 106 degrees outside and their AC was barely able to keep it at 85+. The beers were cold so that made up for it. The pool table/dart board area was easily 100 degrees. 5 beer tabs and limited selection of well drinks. Great Bar America replacement.
