We love hanging out at The Good Kind. Chef Tim and her staff have created an oasis in Southtown with wonderful conversation areas, delicious eats, and well-crafted cocktails. We really enjoy movie nights. Great views of The Tower. A gem.

Vegetarian options: Delicious, healthy options.

A late San Antonio summer Sunday afternoon and the Good Kind is being a kindly host to a party of 12 or so celebrating some remarkable passage of time in a nice outdoor spot roofed from the sun and un-walled to the breezes where an amiable DJ plays a good mix, even taking requests, and celebrants sip from a variety of carefully concocted drinks and bite into similarly varied fare one might classify as comfort food if one were such a classifying reviewer or simply good simple food if writerly pretentiousness is left in the car.

Bonus: A number of nice spots to gather/assemble/amble on the colorful, plant-tacular grounds.

Name of the place begs a curious visitor to ask something like, Say, why the name? though this correspondent forgot to ask and refuses to troll the web for clues partly on principle though mostly on man-splain-y pride.

The out door area is pretty fabulous, staff is friendly, but I'm not sure i would call deep fried food healhy. Fries were super salty, mozzarella bites were close to being burned and the spicy chicken was deep fried and definately burnt. Might be back if on this side of town for a smoothie.

Enjoyed the refreshing market bowl with chicken along with a hibiscus mock tail (a bit tangy). Went there on a Friday evening, surprised it wasn’t busier. Was able to direct a fan to help keep mosquitoes away. Awesome garden area with outdoor seating. Will go back to try other items.

Excellent! We were the 1st ones to arrive. Ordered the BBQ chicken flatbread. It was really good. I ended up saving the second half for dinner.
The only thing I would have changed was adding spicy buffalo sauce instead of bbq.

Food was ok. Coffee was delicious!!! Don’t go on Sundays! We were interested in the brunch but the incredibly loud music they have piping over the whole beautifully landscaped outside area ruined our brunch date.

The food was very bland and the menu was very small. The wait staff aren’t very attentive and there were multiple people having to go up to the order area and keep asking for their food. The music is so LOUD you can’t hear across from you at the table.

I've been to the Good Kind a handful of times and have always enjoyed it. It's a lovely patio, chill ambiance, and usually friendly service. Tonight, Friday, May 10, 2024, was pretty awful that we ended up just leaving. We got there between 9:30-9:40, with the Good Kind closing at 11. We waited for about 20 minutes before a woman emerged from somewhere in back. This was after I called several times "hello!!!" Because nobody was coming.

By the time she emerged from the back, we had been sitting on the patio waiting to see how long this would go on. She then proceeded to start cleaning, sweeping and mopping the place. It was 10:05pm when we left without ever getting any acknowledgement or service. I've never owned a restaurant or bar, but I would be pretty upset if my employees worked in this way. Not visiting the counter for 20+ minutes and then starting to close things up over an hour before the restaurant closed.

We went there bcs we saw the menú and liked it, when we arrived they told us that they are only serving chips and fish, that's all and a variety of drinks but we went there to have a dinner. That was not posted on the website, no mention that they only serve 2 things on Tuesday, not not very visible when only checking the website menu.

A good spot to chill and drink (Just needs more fans in this 100+ degree weather)
We made the mistake of eating here, the servicing area was swarming with flies! I ordered the worlds smallest most expensive burger. $18 for a tiny burger (kind of a joke)
Got kind of grosssed out thinking the army of flies were probably in the kitchen too ?...

I like the atmosphere and the gluten free options, but $4 upcharge for gluten free bread is insane to me
