We’ve come to The Old English Tea Shoppe & Cafe for Afternoon Tea a couple of times (never disappointed), fish and chips for lunch, and now Father’s Day lunch. The beef Wellington and short ribs were delicious. It’s definitely one of our favorites for great atmosphere and food.

The Old English Tea Shoppe is the best English restaurant in San Antonio, and though I haven't traveled Texas enough to know for certain, I feel confident that any list of English cuisine in Texas that doesn't place them in the top three would be deficient.
While I have tried other things from the menu (the lamb savory I had was delicious), their Fish and Chips keep me coming back. The fish fillet is crunchy, but not so crunchy that the flavor underneath disappears, and the fish isn't overcooked. The batter doesn't become hard as it settles—just the perfect amount of crunch.
I cannot overstate how amazing their Fish and Chips are.
Just as good as the Fish and Chips is their tea selection. I got the London Fog the last time I visited, and the blend was perfect. I can't wait to try more tea blends and a full English breakfast on one of my next visits.

My wife and I recently visited this wonderful English breakfast restaurant, and both the food and service were exceptional. My picky half-British wife ordered the Traditional English Breakfast and couldn’t stop talking about how authentic and delicious it was. She said it reminded her of breakfasts at her Nanny’s house when she was a little girl, which is about as high a compliment as you can give!

I had the fish and chips, and they were excellent as well—perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Before leaving, we also picked up several baked goods to take home.

If you’re looking for authentic British food and friendly service, I highly recommend this place. We’ll definitely be back!

This restaurant was like stepping into England, with all the old world charm. My daughter and I had a scrumptious breakfast. She did not like the English sausage, but I did. She loved the scrambled eggs and toast. I thought the tea service was delightful. I tried the medium Black tea that Sophie recommended. I had the Lamb roll with a side of beans, which were all delicious. The beans were tangy. The Lamb roll was savory and fun to try. We tried the assortment of tea time desserts, which were chef's choice. My favorite was the cheesecake and my daughter's was the baked meringue with cream and berries, which the server called Eaton mess.

English meal options. Tea was delicious with milk, sugar or honey available. Looking forward to returning to try more food items.

Amazing experience with wonderful staff! Emma was delightful and the tea was just excellent. The food was actually really good and better than I expected since I’ve never had British food before. Will be coming back for sure!

My husband and I attended their themed lunch last weekend and the experience was absolutely incredible. Ambiance was cozy. The lunch roast was truly Texas-sized. It was easily one of the best roasts we’ve ever had. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. The three-course meal was exceptional from start to finish with every dish thoughtfully prepared and delicious.

In addition to the outstanding food, our server, Sophie, was warm, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our visit. We also greatly appreciated the chef personally coming out to confirm whether the themed dessert was suitable for us, as it contained gin. That level of care and attention was impressive, and the dessert itself was spectacular.

Finally, we were especially impressed by the kindness and professionalism of the Shoppe manager who took the time to check on guests and ensure everyone was enjoying their experience. That is true hospitality, and it made our visit even more memorable. We look forward to returning again soon.

Delicious pies, teas, breakfasts! We can't wait to return to try the English roast! We came at 9am on Sunday with our 3 month old baby, and we were the only ones there for about an hour! Our British relative was in heaven - he said the Steak and Ale Pie took him back to his childhood in Sussex!

I’ve gone for afternoon tea twice now, and both times the sandwiches were refreshing and the pastries divine.

I know the staff works very hard to make visits special and it shows.

A great place run by some lovely people.

Will absolutely be back.
