We went during normal hours at 1:20pm on a Saturday and the doors were closed. Can’t comment on anything other than updating the business hours.

Place had good reviews but when we got here at 1:00 it was closed. We won’t try it again. Also is located in what looks like an office building so not sure how much variety they have. The biggest irritant though is we drove here in the rain and there is nothing on their site about being closed today.

Horrible, I made my reservation for a dinner for July 11th, 7:30 pm, and arrived at a closed restaurant. It appeared as if the place was no longer in operation. On one of the doors there was a sign stating they were no longer able to sell alcohol and it was dated in January. I drove into San Marcos, TX from San Antonio, TX to enjoy a date night with my significant other and was looking forward to dining here. Very disappointing...

Easily one of my favorite spots in San Marcos

Balcón Comedor y Bar totally blew me away. The vibe is chill but stylish — great music, great energy, and the kind of place you could post up for hours with friends and a couple of margaritas.

We started with the carne asada fries and elote asado, and honestly… they might be the best I’ve had. The fries were loaded (in the best way) and the elote had the perfect balance of spice, lime, and cheese. Just unreal.

I went with the al pastor taco and the Cali Burrito — and wow. The burrito was massive, cheesy, and packed with carne asada and fries inside (basically everything you crave at once). The taco had just the right kick, with a sweet touch from the pineapple. You can tell they put real love into every dish.

What really made the night was Javier, the owner — he came by to check on us, and you could tell how much he cares about the food and the people. Super genuine guy, and that vibe trickles down to the whole staff.

If you’re in San Marcos and love modern Mexican food, this place is a must. Great drinks, amazing food, and a team that actually makes you feel welcome. Can’t wait to go back.

Tip: Come hungry. You’re gonna want to try everything.

Nice little place. Great for small groups but not large groups. Food is somewhat overpriced for the portions compared to other local places.

Cozy rooftop patio with lots of tables inside by the bar. I had the Civiche Verde, which was excellent, not fishy at all, as well as the Salsa Sampler, I wish I had taken the trio of salsas home with me, they were so good! and really fantastic service.

One of the bartenders was very knowledgable and turned me on to my new favorite reposado tequila: Maestro Dobel Diamante Cristalino, served neat, was just perfect. I bought a bottle today and with top shelf taste was less than $50!

Thank you for the excellent service and food. I'll be back!

Oh Balcon Comedor Bar, I am extremely dissatisfied with the experience. Charging $8 for a paltry 3.6oz of salsa paired with a mere ten chips, made from just 2 1/2 corn tortillas, is unacceptable. Furthermore, the guacamole's resemblance to Wholly Guacamole, available at HEB for $3.47, was remarkable. Also, the margaritas tasted as though they were poured from a buzz ball. The cost was excessively high considering the quantity and quality of food provided…

Skyleigh B was awesome by herself serving. She had all the tables in the restaurant. No other waitress/ waiter showed up to work. Not even manager helped this poor girl. The restaurant was packed. The bartender decided to come out at the last minute. She was too busy talking. 3 people in the kitchen. 3-5 pm during Happy Hour

Their kitchen is impossibly small which means that service is impossibly slow. During Sunday Brunch we waited for more than an hour for food to be served. When the food did arrive, it was overcooked and difficult to eat. It was during Mother's Day and they were not staffed for brunch. One server and one bartender. The server never checked on us unless we waved her down and the bartender made mediocre drinks. How do you ruin Mimosas?? The only reason it is not 1 star is because our meal was comped and the restaurant interior was an interesting vibe. Potential but this place does not seem to know what it takes to staff, supply, or run a restaurant/bar.

It was a nice brunch and super friendly servers and great service! Would have liked more lunch options in brunch menu but good food.

10/10 - I'm coming back next time I'm in the area. Our server was the absolute best. Attentive, warm and welcoming, knowledgeable, fast. You can truly tell they take pride in the ingredients and preparation. The portions are very generous. So don't worry, even an order of a single taco will satisfy rumbling tummies. Our party tried the quesadilla, carne asada, enmoladas, three orders of tacos, enchiladas verdes, salsa sampler, elotes, and donuts; and each plate was as good as the next.

Went Friday may 9 around 6 and sat ourselves down. Received waters and one cup was dirty with margarita salt inside. Our waitress never came back after 20 mins of wating. Watched her talk with other waitress, serve tables near by , and set up a table. Poor service and will never return.

This place is so cute! They have a $5 happy hour Tuesday-Friday and I absolutely love how relaxed and open the atmosphere is! The food was so so yummy! I got the Flautas and the Ensenada fish taco! The margs were so yum! The quality of the food is worth it! Our server was Elda! She did amazing!
