I had a wonderful experience during daytime drinking hours. I showed up on a Saturday night and peered into the window to see if the same bartender was there. The door guys(3 of them, maybe just friends), informed me that now they couldn't let me in. That I could find somewhere else to go. Mind you I am a 47 year old, service industry professional working in Austin and had 0 drinks in me. I wanted 2 good bourbon shots. I will not be back.
For a Sunday - which is notoriously slow in the service industry - Jacob was attentive, easy going and personable. Though not a specific whiskey bar, the variety available was impressive, and he was knowledgeable in most all of them. We're not locals, and picked the bar at random from the few that were open for a "happy hour" time frame, but we recommend the Black Rabbit Saloon to anyone of any age looking for a great drink in a great location for a great time.
Nice little bar in downtown. We were told about this place while visiting Standard Proof on Rainey Street in Austin. Luckily we dropped by the week after graduation so the place was somewhat slow and we had plenty of room to stay awhile. Plenty of bourbon selections, and all the other things too, if bourbon is not your thing.
