I love finding awesome small businesses! Found this little jewel while traveling to San Angelo, TX.The now, proud owner returned to his home town of San Saba to find this old 1930s something Gulf Station in desperate need of some TLC. He could see the potential so he purchased the property and then spent the next few years painstakingly restoring the building. His hard work certainly paid off! While the menu is not extensive, it is filled with some great options. I had a quesadilla that was one of the best I've ever had. My husband had the Durango sandwich also delicious. Everything is made to order so you have time to kick back and enjoy the place. The owner, "Head Honcho" ( an Aggie graduate) took our order and served us. We couldn't have asked for better service. A very enjoyable experience. We'll be sure to stop in on our next trip.

The Gobbler Burger is a strong contender to be one of the best burgers I've ever eaten, hands-down. The vegetables were very high quality, and the meat was extremely delicious. Although I was a little disappointed in the grocery store bun; the flavor, taste and quality of burger were plenty more than enough to make up for that minor discrepancy. One of the most attractive quirks of this restaurant is the commitment and dedicated to recreating a classic American diner. Much of the memorabilia inside the restaurant is either authentic and restored, or a very accurate replica of an original. And while the walls may be a little bland. The eye-candy is NOT shallow, and is generally very fulfilling to be a part of. I can't speak on the era or style much myself, however, I can say that the atmosphere is just as delicious as the food.My only gripe is that the store isn't open on Sundays after Church. As I do love to frequently have brunch after service, as many other people do too. I also feel disappointed that the store is not open further into the day. The hours alone, de-incentivizes me to order other items off their menu, especially items such as pizza. It seems to me that the store owner could miss out on a lot of valuable foot-traffic as well as incoming business because of these few issues. But these issues DO NOT remove any value from dining experience. Whether or not you're passing through, or live in town, I highly encourage you to give this restaurant your business. And if you're a local, I would heavily consider becoming a regular.

Love, Love, LOVE this little diner! The ambience and food are worth the trip for lunch or dinner! I could sit in there for hours just reminiscing. The owner and staff also make the experience wonderful! The first thing I would recommend would be there Burgers! They are delicious! There malts and shakes are AMAZING for the perfect companion to any meal!

This place is no joke. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time!I ordered the Duke, and expected it to be messy. Not at all. Delicious burger. Not greasy at all. Fries were hot and amazing!Owners were very attentive to our needs and very friendly and personable.Do yourself a favor of you're passing through and stop for a top notch meal.

The Filling Station has some of the best food you could ask for at a decent price.I ordered a burger called “The Texan” which included a 1/3 lbs burger, Cole slaw, brisket, BBQ sauce , pickles and a fresh bun. Both the brisket and the burger were cooked to perfection on top of the Cole slaw being amazing. The sidewinder fries were hot , crispy and delicious. I got a home made chocolate chip cookie that was both crunchy and soft, delicious. The owner and staff were very friendly and proud of their establishment and the place was pretty much spotless inside and out. I would suggest this place to anyone traveling through or even around San Saba.Thank you for the amazing meal.
