Lovely surroundings great staff however its gone very expensive and portions have halved. I had the chicken skewers which used to come on a tall metal skewer with at least 10 large cubes of meat on. Then it changed to skewers laid down on the plate but still plenty of meat. This time i got ONE very small skewer with only a few pieces of chicken. For £18 I was disappointed. Shared a bottle of wine with friends and went home hungry and £30 worse off.
Visited for lunch today. Decided to be festive & ordered from the Xmas menu. Staff very friendly & efficient. Food arrived quickly & was delicious. Classy & comfortable environment, & spacious area between tables. The main negative was that volume of the music. It was so loud you had to shout in order to have a conversation with each other. I politely asked twice if the music could be turned down slightly, but appear to have been ignored. Heard other diners complain too, & the table next to us left because of this. This said, I would consider visiting again in the future because there were several delicious sounding items on the menu I would like to try.
Sorry it’s a no from me ! We had the Xmas menu and the veg were nearly raw ! I appreciate al dente but this was not that , the sprouts were like marbles ! Lovely decorations and nice staff but your food is way below expectations! Sorry I wanted it to be better

Oh dear what used to be a great restaurant has deteriorated. The atmosphere is good-it’s a lovely place but the food is awful. My friend asked what a Salmon dish entailed (can’t remember the name) consisted of and the answer was fish/ well we knew salmon was fish !!! My friend chose a chicken dish it was dry and overcooked. When she bought the staffs attention to it they said- ‘well we are busy you will have to wait at least 20 mins for a fresh one what do you want to do.’ We were stunned. The manager came over slapped some cutlery down and said it will be 8-10 mins and walked off. The replacement wasn’t any better and she ended up not eating at all. At no point did the manager on duty come over to us. It used to be brilliant- great service- great staff- great management. But not anymore- won’t be wasting my money there again. The Wayfarer for me from now on. Surprise surprise I didn’t get a how was your visit email.
The Orange Tree Stoke on Trent: 26th of November 2023, Sunday Lunch booking for six people. This place has the distinction of possibly serving the worst Sunday Lunch I have ever had. Do not eat here. Six people, four of us, ordered the Roast Beef Sunday Lunch. It was busy, but the service was awful; 40 minutes plus before we got what should be a standard lunch order. When the Roast Beef lunch arrived, I was slightly suspicious when I was given a sharp Steak Knife, but when we tried to cut into the beef, we realised why: it was tough and sinewy. All four of us could not cut or eat the meat. Added to this, all of the roast potatoes were burnt overcooked and almost impossible to eat; the same applied to the parsnips; for a so-called professional eating house, these meals should have stayed in the kitchen. When the waitress arrived to clear our plates, I pointed out that as she could see no one had eaten the beef. She asked if I would like to speak to the Manager, and I said yes. He arrived full of apologies and did admit that they had complaints that day about the beef; he also agreed with me that the problem was not the cooking but the fact that it was an inferior piece of meat and should not have been served. Three of us ordered lemon rolls as a dessert. Another mistake, yes, it was a cold dessert but not a frozen one; we substituted the spoon for a knife so that we could eat it. Was this a one-off experience possible? But how could a professional chef allow such awful food to be served to their customer, The kitchen staff and management need to display more care about the company and its products. I would add that this is unfortunately not a fake review
Booked a table for the family at 16:30 on Sunday 19th November. Took drinks order then we had to ask after an hour for them to order food. Took another 45 minutes to arrive. Didn't offer sauces etc. with mains. We eventually left at 19:30 without bothering with sweets as it had taken so long. We had a toddler and baby with us who, understandably, were completely bored and thus restless by the time we actually ate. They seemed surprised when we told them to take the service charge, that they had automatically added, off the bill. Used this place many times in the past but it seems to have gone downhill. Won't be using again
I was so disappointed as I really love the place. The food is good. & the staff are all friendly. But......this time I had Hair in my main and Hair again in my sweet.
The place is lovely and the menu ok, not worth the 21£ set meal the carvery was no better than anywhere else but other places you’d actually get vegetables to go with the carvery. The pudding was nice but stats with custard , if you think 4 drips of custard to try make a pretty pattern as custard then god help us … the bill came over 200£ as there where 9 adults and they put 18£ service charge . If it was left to my fella and I we would of asked for it to come off.. Don’t get me wrong the staff seemed nice kids but there was no smiles or actual words that were said other than can I get you anything else?! So to pay 18£ service … erm no. Save your money and go a nice pub or carvery
