An absolutely beautiful property and would recommend it to everyone.
What an incredible place to stay!
This place is definitely unique and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a nice quiet place to stay, while in the surrounding Fredericksburg area.
Greg was very friendly and made the whole check in / check out process easy.
The rooms were great! Very clean, beds were comfortable, the place was decorated very nicely, the shower had plenty of pressure. I really can't think of one bad thing to say.
The breakfast was great! Day 1 we had a 3 course breakfast consisting of Avocado, egg toast one morning with sausage, a fresh blueberry and almond muffin and a bowl of yogurt with granola and fresh fruit. Fresh orange juice and coffee. Day 2 was waffles with granola and fresh and bacon.
For the price, you really can't beat all the accommodations you receive here.
Am absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast in Stonewall! Just off 290, it is such a peaceful retreat! Very close to many wineries! The breakfasts were wonderful, accommodations were very comfortable with special bath products in every suite. We stayed in the downstairs Carriage House. Coffee maker, fridge and glasses in the room are so convenient. Special added touches include a hot tea station, cans of sodas and fresh baked cookies in the main house, available all day. There’s plenty of porch space and lounging areas to kick back and relax! We LOVED our stay and we’ll be back!
We had a great 4 day stay. The suite was larger than we thought it would be. Ours had 2 bathrooms, small fully equipped kitchen w/ island counter w/ stools, small living area w couch and 2 chairs, large bedroom w master bath suite. A filtered water spout was a plus in the kitchen. The plantation style mansion was the main house where breakfast was held every morning was a lot of fun to enjoy. Be sure to request the peach minosa-you won’t regret it. They left it open all day and evening in case you wanted to read in their library or have some of the complimentary refreshments they have available. It is a very tranquil and peaceful place to stay (romantic as well, if that is what you are looking for). It is on the outskirts of town, but not far enough out to be an inconvenience to enjoy all of the in-town things to do. Many wineries within 5&10 minutes. Shannon and Glenn were very nice and helpful when we needed anything.
Absolutely love this place. Relaxing peaceful great breakfast great rooms. The view is awesome. Great staff. I plan to make this a once a year habit. Well worth the money.
My wife and I wanted a special place to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary so we chose Rose Hill Retreat. The setting and overall surroundings were very nice and was a peaceful setting. We were only disappointed with the breakfasts provided on both days of our stay. They were not as advertised in prior reviews of “outstanding breakfasts”. No competent chef to be found. My wife and I did not enjoy the manner in which the breakfast was served up with no choices offered to us. Just here it is and Enjoy! We had to get our own Ice water and there was no Ice to be found. The breakfast sausage was not something we could even eat. Because of this poor breakfast offering we will not be returning and want others to know that their acclaimed breakfasts is a real stretch and needs to be improved to make this place worth a repeat.
Staff amazing and peace abounds.
Great location, close to everything Hill Country has to offer. At the end of the day, had a peaceful and relaxing place to go to. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. Stayed in the Jasmine Cottage and Southern Magnolia. Very nice. The breakfast and coffee each day were so good. We also enjoyed walking around the property and seeing all the animals.
We had a wonderful time staying here with friends. The cottages were very neat and comfy. Our cottage (Purple Sage) was perfect for us. Nice deck to have our early morning coffee ☕️ and visiting with the goats 🐐 /sheep 🐑 out back. Nice big kitchen (coffee maker, utensils, bowls, cups, sugar, sweet-n-low, frig, stove, WiFi). Glen and Shannon were great hosts. Retreat is next door to Pernales Winery 🍷and Wimberley is not that far from here..
Celebrated 35th anniversary. First trip to Fredericksburg, which we loved, but my favorite part was our little Jasmine Cottage suite! So beautiful and peaceful. Staff very friendly. Breakfast on the patio each morning was the perfect way to start the day. Lovely views, didn't want to leave!

We love Rose Hill Retreat! I have personally stayed there 3 times and was introduced to it by a friend who has been going there since they opened. It is a little piece of heaven, so quiet and tranquil. They offer a delicious breakfast every morning, they have a coffee and tea bar set up downstairs in the main house for all of the patrons. It’s a short drive to Fredericksburg, the rooms are clean and beautifully decorated. They have accommodations from single rooms up to a 3 bedroom house. The views are spectacular, all in all it is a very special place and I look forward to my next visit.

So this would have been our 2nd time staying at the retreat and it is a lovely place with lovely rooms. The food is also amazing.
That being said - we called 4 times on Tues 6/3 to cancel our reservations for 1 overnight 6/8-6/9 because our daughter got covid. Not only was it not canceled, but we were charged $395 for a 1 night stay (effectively paying for 2 nights but only getting 1). When I spoke to the owner, Amy, I told her that we had canceled last week and asked why our card was still charged. I was told that the cancellation policy is 10 days in advance. I informed her that we were not told that at the time of cancellation nor did we receive a cancellation email. Had we known about this policy, we would have given the reservation to my MIL, who was currently in the hill country. She stated that it is on the original bill as well as the cancellation email (we did not get any cancellation email). I asked her to foward me the cancellation email she sent. I am still waiting for that.
Very disappointed in both the communication as well as this policy. Emergencies happen, so should compassion. $400 is a lot of money for 1 night. As charming as this place is, we will not be going back and will not recommend.
