I first tried Mario’s Italian over 36 years ago. In fact, my husband proposed marriage on the dance floor in 1990. The food is still the best Italian in Tyler and the service is amazing. Add to that the live music of old Italian favorites (think Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin et al) and the ambiance can’t be beat. This is NOT a chain restaurant, but a special treat for Tyler.
It’s like going back in time when you come in here. Very calming, relaxing atmosphere. The service is some of the best I’ve ever experienced. Everyone is so friendly. Jim, the live musician, will come around and talk to you while he’s singing, and check in and make sure everything is going well.
I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re looking for a formal setting for date night or an anniversary, or even just a nice dinner. I’ll be back...

I was really pleasantly surprised by this place. Quite frankly, of all the Italian restaurants we've been to in the Tyler area, this is the best yet. Lots of charm. Live music on this Friday night. Nice wine list. Lots of food items to choose from on the menu. Portion size was generous. Food preparation was excellent and authentic, and the service personable. We will definitely be back.
