This place has been here forever and it's still one of the best breakfast places in Waco. The portions are huge and the service is quick, friendly, but not buggy. Very old-school diner. You will not leave hungry.

We walked in soaking wet from rain and were greeted by a real sour puss. The place is very run down and was dirty. Our waitress, however was a sweetheart and very accommodating. The coffee was terrible and she brought me some tea without hesitation. My food was mostly satisfactory, although my eggs were not cooked very well. My slice of ham was excellent but my daughter's bacon was not.

I'm giving 3 stars for the service and atmosphere. I was really rooting for the food to be delicious. Walked in and was seated immediately. Waitress came right over and filled up our coffees and never let them run dry. We ordered an omelet and the steak and eggs. No flavor AT ALL. Got hash browns, no flavor and they were cold. Got biscuits, they were OK. The atmosphere of this place reminds me of my childhood. The waitress was welcoming and very quick and friendly. Up the game on flavor. $57 for breakfast for 2 people for nostalgia ain't worth it.

I can confirm the nostalgic feel from bout 40ish years ago!!! The food was good and service efficient. Seems like the only thing missing is cigarette smoke along with the smell of coffee, plates clacking together, some indistinct food cooking oder (probly breakfast) and music playing in da background...

This place is an anomaly. It's worth it to go and experience a real life time machine. If you want to know what it was like to go here in 1990 then go today, everything is the same including the people. The food is not good. The staff was cursing each other in the kitchen loud enough to be heard at the table. The coffee tastes like water. The bacon was burnt, the eggs were terrible, the pancakes were obviously instant and they used water not milk. Even the water at the table tastes like lake Waco. $14 for a bad breakfast is bonkers. The world has moved on and Harold Waite has not. The only reason people eat here must be the decor which reminds them of their childhood, or their grandparents house. Skip this if you are hungry. If you need to experience 1990 again then they are open until 12pm

It’s my first time here while visiting Waco. The first time I walked in I was so surprised to see the restaurant. It made me feel I was on different year like maybe 1980s. Everybody was so welcoming and the waitress was so nice , you don’t have to ask her what you need. My food was ready less than 7mins, everybody was so so awesome! I ordered chicken fried steak it was crispy and delicious. I didn’t really like the hash brown I think it should be cooked with a lot of butter but that’s my preference. And the pancakes are so so good better than Ihop . I really loved it here definitely coming back!

Food came out quickly, hot, and good! I’d ordered the western omelette, and it was perfect. Waitress was very attentive.

This place is the same as I remember it being 30 years ago. We used to come just about every weekend, and now that I don't live here anymore, we don't get to go as often, but this is a Waco classic. I can't imagine Waco without this place, one of the best brunch/lunch places in town.

It's been a while since I had been there. Food has went downhill. My western omelet was sitting in a pool of grease. They charged me for pancakes that on the menu come with the omelet. It says your choice of pancakes, biscuit or toast with the omelet. I will not go back.

Customer service was absolutely terrible. Waitress yelling at the host across the restaurant. Arguing with her beside a customer table. Food was watery. Tasted like it came out of the microwave. Waitress slammed the coffee pot on the table to put the ticket down AS SOON as we got our food.

My issue are 2 things.1 The cashier goes just outside the front door and smokes, doesn't wash her hands afterwards and sits people with menu and your silverware in hand.2 the prices have gone way up.Great breakfast though

For the early birds, go to Harold Waites. Get the #3. An off menu item is the trash can omlette. Also, ask for grilled biscuits. They are amazing. Coffee is hot and fresh. The waitress are all friendly and always make patrons feel welcomed. You may even run into Tom.This is a Waco Bucket list restaurant. A Waco Icon for sure.
