Mywife and I had lunch at Taqueria Chalupas yesterday. I ordered enchiladas con mole. I thought I would swoon from the delicious flavor. Not only was it good, it wasn't 'artificial Mexican'! Taqueria Chalupas is a small but mighty taste of heaven on this side of town. The caldo is a must-try, and the food is fresh and authentic. The service is great and effective. This spot is the best Mexican food in the Clearlake area. The fajitas street tacos with onions and cilantro are delicious and come with the best frijoles a la charra. The queso dip and the house margarita are a must-have. The red, fresh marinated salsa and the spicy green salsa are amazing. Customers can't go wrong with anything on the menu, from the chicken quesadillas to the lengua and al pastor street tacos. This hidden gem is highly recommended.
