Pioneer of Texas Reviews
Went here today to eat and had a rude waitress ended up leaving without ordering. Usually make Pioneer a must when we come to WF may change in the future.
Had the most interesting lunch at pioneer today on maple wood … got my meal ordered onion rings they were cold asked them for new onion rings they proceeded to either reheat them or re deep fry them which is DISGUSTING the MANAGER brought the same ones out that I sent back and the continued to tell me they were new ones when the one I already took a BITE out of was still there.
We had the worst service. We waited over 2 hours for our food and they weren’t that busy. Supposedly the kitchen lost our order. Did they? Or did the wait staff lose the order and want to blame the kitchen. The food was horrible when we finally got it. It had been 18 years since I had stepped foot in this restaurant. Definitely will never go back.

The Pioneer of Texas restaurant provides a warm and welcoming dining experience with a focus on high-quality, fresh ingredients. The themed booths create a kid-friendly atmosphere, and the friendly staff work hard to deliver good service. The menu offers a variety of comfort food options, including the popular chicken fried steak. Customers have praised the tasty food, friendly service, and relaxing environment. Many visitors enjoy the nostalgic decor that transports them back to earlier times, with some noting that the place looks much the same after years of operation. The restaurant is known for its delicious, traditional Texas-style dishes like the Mexican plate and steak on garlic, which are served with fries. The chicken fried steak is tender and satisfying, often enjoyed with homemade pies such as chocolate ice box pie. While the staff are friendly and attentive, sometimes service can be busy, leading to longer wait times. Prices have increased over time, and some dishes may not meet everyone's expectations, but the restaurant remains a reliable choice for those seeking hearty Texas comfort food in a cozy, nostalgic setting.
