Terrible food, I genuinely could not stomach it, so nasty. The eggs were gross, boxed powder, and the potatoes tasty moldy.

Overall I'd recommend Sego. There was a great selection of choices that are easily shared. Our party had a great time and enjoyed everything. If there are two minor knits, I was sharing the filet with another person who wanted it medium. It definitely came out medium rare at best (and it's served cut up so it was obvious) so I'd expect a restaurant presenting itself as high end to not miss that. They did fix it immediate once I pointed it out, so it was fine. The whole explanation of the restaurant is a social blah blah blah platform felt pretentious in my opinion. All that being said, I'd still recommend it and would consider going back if I returned to the area and had more than a few nights there.
differentmore upscaled food than the typical restaurants in the area, they call themselves a social restaurant where all plates are meant to be shared. staff was nice and very attentive.
What an amazing find! Didn't expect such a wonderful restaurant in Kanab, but there it is. Amazing small plates for sharing, we did four, all delicious! Great service on top of that. Go to this restaurant!
Let's start with the good: intimate, warm, and well decorated space, locally sourced ingredients, ambitious and creative menu for this region, the ability to book online. The three dishes I ordered - mushroom with egg, street style tofu, banana bread pudding - were all good, and the pudding was actually phenomenal - order this. Very vegetarian friendly (I eat meat, but notice this stuff.) On to the middle: The mushrooms and tofu were both good, but nothing seemed overly creative or blew me away - I feel like I have had dishes like this before, done as well or better. Same with the old fashioned I ordered - it was fine, a bit watery, only one cherry. I was seated at a high top, and i have to say the chair/table were extremely uncomfortable; I saw a couple walk in with no reservation and get a better table. Again, none of this is bad, but the price point was akin to that of a major city, so I was expecting a bit more. The not-so-great: the staff seemed harried - I waited to be noticed by the host, who was a bit stiff, and suggested I order 4-5 dishes (luckily my waiter, who was nice, corrected me). The waiters seemed like the were rushing, almost like the menu exceeded the capability of the facility, which detracted from what should be an intimate, buzzy atmosphere. Other notes: I think this place is just not ideal for solo diners. I think if I went with a group, I would have had a far better experience and would have been able to try lots of stuff. To be fair, the menu calls it "social dining" and I should have paid better attention to this.
Outstanding meal. Super attentive and warm friendly staff, Food was exceptional, including scallops with mushrooms, grilled Caesar salad and the Sego noodles, super flavorful and light. Dishes are small and shareable. Great spot and reasonably priced.
Wow. First, the service was astonishing: an ideal blend of friendliness and professionalism. These smart, good-natured, talented people clearly enjoy their work and genuinely care about the quality of the guest experience as well as the food. As for the food.. whoa! ... We travel widely, thus eat at restaurants frequently, and we agreed this was one of the best meals we've had in a long, long time. Each creative, delicious dish had us wanting more of the same, until the next dish arrived—which it always did with perfect timing. Bravo, Sego! And thank you.
0 stars- CELIACS BEWARE. Slow service, uneducated staff, and false advertising. I was so excited to go here on our trip to Utah. I have celiac disease (gluten free) so I selected this restaurant months in advance due to their seemingly extensive gluten free menu. We drove an hour to go here because of this for our anniversary. However, upon arrival we waited 20 minutes to even be seen by a hostess. Then after we are seated, I began to inform the waitress of my “allergy” and ask questions to ensure the menu items are actually gluten free- shared fryer, separate prep/pan etc. I also asked about a specific salad, and it was at that moment that I realized that she was unaware what gluten was and thought it was fish allergy. The was despite the extensive markings on the menu, which to me, would imply the staff would be educated on the allergies/dietary preferences listed. After explaining what celiac is and she went to talk to the kitchen, it turned out it was a shared fryer, they do use a separate pan, but will not swap out sides. THEN, by the owners daughter, was told they will prepare them all differently and the waitress was miscommunicated to by the kitchen. I became unsure and felt very uneasy about eating so we wound up leaving. They said they will change some of their notations on the menu to note “not celiac safe” which literally means nothing- it’s not gluten free. Really disappointing when restaurants falsely advertise to accommodate a trendy diet when in fact it’s an autoimmune disease.
Meant to write this review a while ago. Came in back in May. We were looking for a restaurant that wasn’t a chain restaurant with good strong drinks. This place was really good overall. The only odd thing was waiting to get a table. It was very unorganized and seemed understaffed which May didn’t seem like peak tourist season in the area yet. But… our young waiter (so forgot his name), was GREAT. Super attentive and took his job seriously. The drinks and food were excellent. Were from NYC area , lived in Asia before and very surprised that the food was 5*. I’d recommend making a reservation in advance.
We got the Az filet, Sego noodles, Falafel, and Chicken skewers (can't remember the name). They were all fantastic! And the flavors all blended so well. We could eat the Az filet and potatoes one bite and the Sego noodles the next bite and everything blended and tasted so great! And how did they make that peanut sauce for the chicken? The person in the next door Canyons Lodge suggested it and it was was ON-POINT! Really suggest it. I guess they also have a 2 lb prime rib we didn't have because the ladies I was with wouldn't have been able to help me eat it :-). Waaaa!

I eat here once a year. This year neither the kitchen nor waitstaff were able to live up to the ambitious menu. We ordered several small plates. Two were grilled, a grilled cheese and a grilled Caesar salad. I kinda expect grilled dishes to be hot and served on hot dishes. The Caesar salad was two halves of a small romaine lettuce topped with a little grated cheese. Possibly the lettuce was finished under the broiler briefly then allowed to sit around and cool off before being transferred to a cold plate. In any case it was served at room temperature on a cold plate which made it lukewarm Caesar salad. The grilled cheese was thickish slices of a cheese, slightly melted but again room temperature on a cold plate. I am guessing neither of these dishes were intended to be served at this temperature. Possibly it was the waiters fault… if indeed he was a waiter. I am guessing he was filling in for someone because he was totally untrained. I know he was not a busboy because he had no plans to remove our used plates from the table before he served the next course. I had to flag down a different wait person to do that. The next course was something they called duck lo mein. Sort of a deconstructed lo mein with sliced duck breast over lo mein noodles. This was warm (again not hot) swimming in an extremely greasy sauce. It was tasty but when I put a spoon in the sauce I lifted out more or less clear liquid which I take as duck fat. It was served with a piece of duck skin deep fried which they called Chicharron, like a pork chicarron. Perhaps this was a delicacy but I could not eat it. So not a great meal and not doing justice to the chefs elaborate menu. Personally I am tired of post pandemic restaurants with poorly trained staff. If they can no longer produce pre pandemic quality meals them maybe a simple menu might help. Or get a heat lamp in the kitchen. And train the wait staff instead of just being grateful to get a body willing to work.
We visited Sego for dinner. We did not make a reservation but were seated in about 30 minutes. There is a nice outdoor patio spot with a fire to enjoy while you wait. Overall, our experience was good. The menu is shareable plates. They recommend 3-5 dishes per couple. We ordered 4 dishes for 2 people and it was sufficient. We ordered a beer and margarita and both were great. The service was fairly slow but all of the servers seemed to take pride in the food being served.
What a find! I am a foodie and have lived in the Napa valley and this restaurant rivals the best there. Eclectic menu with bold, interesting and successful menu items. The server recommended ordering several dishes to share and I am glad we did because it provided a good sampling of different types of dishes. The pork belly with watermelon ( yes, watermelon) was exceptional! What an interesting combination! The beef fillet was extremely tender and flavorful and the duck was as well. For vegetarian fare, the cauliflower dish with which sauce was a hit for us. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions. Service overall was outstanding. Ambiance was cozy and warm. Love visiting Kanab and I am so glad that some locals recommended this restaurant. We will be back next trip to Kanab!
It was a very nice dining experience:) My son and I like road trips and experiencing nice, local restaurants, never chain restaurants. We were not disappointed:)
