Food okay and overpriced... but that was expected. Problem was the massive fans all running making the place frigid on a day where everyone was already frozen and wet from the snow... and the only staff there took 5 requests and 50 minutes to help turn them off.
The chili was delicious and hearty. I'm usually skeptical on any chili but my own but this dish was great. They served it with all the fixins and had fritos to top it with. The lodge was not too crowded and we were able to find seating easily, which isn't easy at most vail owned resorts. I will mention that the cashier/bartender tried to serve me a pilsner when I asked for a pale ale or IPA and didn't understand the concept of 12 oz vs 16 of beers. I wouls suggest...
Mac-n-cheese, chili, pizza, cheesesteak sandwiches are the typical fare. A rather cramped dining area is a strong motivator for planning your meals during the off-peak hours. The staff take it all in stride and are friendly and helpful.
